If you think college is expensive now, just wait until it’s free.
TANSTAAFL.

Most of those attending the so-called "traditional black colleges" pay no tuition. The result is that they "graduate" and receive preference for jobs, but in reality lack the necessary skills, thus devaluing a college degree.
An excellent example of a so-called "well educated", but unqualified individual who paid nothing for his "education", and who has received, and continues to receive, preferential treatment and is totally unqualified -

This word “free”. I don’t think it means what you think it means.
Why not just GIVE people FREE 4-year degrees??! It’s a lot cheaper and faster than making them sit through 4 years of college, and the results are the same: a bunch of uneducated jackasses walking around with degrees of no value.
“And...and... A unicorn in every pot! Wind powered bicycles! Free snapping turtle soup and Moon pies! My Little Pony underwear for everyone on Medicare! And lots and lots of cartoons on TV, and Teletubbies in all classrooms!”
“How about first we get our 12th graders reading at least at a 10th grade level?”
A lot of substance to this. If a high school education was worth anything anymore, it wouldn’t be necessary to prop it up with four years for everyone.
You all probably seen the 8th grade entrance exam from the early 1900’s.
Make the big universities donate their endowments.
Now that they have no chance of implementing any of this, we are going to see a stream of free stuff being offered. There’s no downside. The dolts think “what a great idea.” But they never have to make it real and see it crash.
Agree.
A chicken in every pot has now morphed into everything is free, free, free. :-)
Food, too. And shelter. Oh, and transportation. Hey, it worked for *health care*. /rimshot
I’d like to see ten typical h.s. English teachers tackle an old McGuffey Reader for 3rd grade. It’ d be like videogamers trying to handle a real helicopter.
