Even if the Keystone gets approved by Obama’s veto being overridden... Due to the current low low oil price no one will be in rush to build it.
You are right about Obama sicking the EPA on any attempt to start building the Keystone

That’s true but if there is a veto override (and that’s really the big if here) but if that were to happen the Dems would start to smell blood in the water. they’d start to realize that voting against Obama’s wishes may not hurt them politically in the long run, and that would be huge. A whole lot of domino effects could occur, forcing some even less pleasant (less pleasant for him) legislation on his desk. Could get interesting.

IF they override his veto. Which I really don’t think they have the votes for that. (Not enough Dem Senators from red states up for reelection this time).

Obama just might approve it to take it out of the “2016 Issue” column.

If he were a real Machiavelli, he would approve it, because that would accomplish three things. First, it would create jobs, which he would then take credit for. Second, it would help keep the price of oil, gas, and electricity down, which he would also take credit for. Third, it would become an issue in the 2016 Dem primaries, giving Elizabeth Warren something to get the greens funding her side and putting Hillary! in the unenviable position of having to thread the needle on the issue with leftists--something Bill could pull off with ease, but not her. Obama would like nothing better than to bump off Hillary! one more time, to prove to himself that he was indeed better than her the whole time.

Put it on the mthrfkr’s desk and let him veto it.

Boehner, et al have this one session to prove themselves to the rest of us, me in particular.

Otherwise, I’m done.

I’ll simply go to work, ignore the news, politics and make FU money.

Because I really do have better things to do than worry about the enemy within....

Need to inflate the balls of 5 more democrats.

To total 67, or more than 2/3 of the total number of Senators.

But now my curiosity is tickled: what is required constitutionally, 2/3 of the total number of Senators, or merely 2/3 of those voting? Article I.7.2 just says, "two thirds of [each] House..." I'm betting on the former.

“And a veto “override” is getting more doable every day.”

That would be so sweet. And it would show Obama he’s a lamer duck than he imagines.

It's 2/3rds voting. And it would be too easy for cowards to duck the vote.

I am just wondering what conservative principle McConnell is going to trade away to get Obamas signature. And after he gets Obamas signature how long before Obama goes Stupak on McConnell.

Thanks--I'll try to confirm that. Extends my curiosity further, to discovering where the Constitution text's ambiguity was resolved.

Political cowardice is as old as politics. But finding a solution has proven elusive...

Let Obama veto it.

Sing it far and wide that Obama is not interested in jobs for Americans and wants to keep the price of gas high.

Then all those democrat Senators who voted against it will find it more difficult to get elected.

The proper Republican strategy going forward would be to spit out so many bills that Zero would need to spend 25 hours a day vetoing them. Keep him occupied and on the defensive the next 2 years to minimize destroying what’s left of the country. The next bill should be something likje: presidents are required to pay for their own junkets for vacations and world trips and minimize hauling around just any ole body they feel like. Limit passengers to immediate family only.

I’m pleasantly surprised that the wooden cut-out Bob Casey would vote against his boss. There is a large coastal refinery complex between Philadelphia and Wilmington and all the jobs concentrated in that area persuaded Casey and Carper to be on the right side of energy policy for a change.

Interesting article. It would be even more interesting if it weren't three years old.

“can’t even build a stinking pipe because of the left’s religion.”

I like how you put that, “build a pipe”, which is exactly all it is. I’ve maintained that the building of the pipe should just get started. If the money is there to fund it, the workers are willing to work on it, and The land owners are willing to sign a contract selling or leasing the land that it will cross, then just start building the damn pipe. What is it hurting? The libtards can come up with an infinite amount of fear based hair brained (no offense to hair) ideas and ‘what if’s’ to try and convince the 49% that the world will end if the pipe is built, but any rational person can see right through such. What’s Obama and his Center For Biological Diversity morons going to do? Have another Bundy showdown? Kill people for working building a big pipe?

And there are some who claim there is no difference between the parties.

True...there may be not enough to override a veto (or maybe there will be we'll see).

But to see bills like this reaching Obama's desk is FAAAAR better than the obstruction of Harry Reid.

Would be nice to see a veto override. Shove it down his throat.

But I look for Bam to demand amnesty in return for not vetoing it.

Yep. And crybaby boehner will fall for it.

One is only left to wonder who exactly will pay for the pipeline if the price of oil is not $100 but $50 per bbl . . .

We’ve had cheap gas before. Have no fear...they’ll go back up....and probably with a little “gas tax” added.

Wasn't very long ago when 1.89 was expensive.
