Well, kinda. Not THEIR cars or THEIR money of course. Just the lowly pukes who refuse to buy their BS. Sadly, there are too many IPOS that do buy it. News flash. You would be much better served trying to avoid another glaciation. So crank up the Hemi if you think it'll help stave off another ice age. Which it of course wouldn't. Ol mother erf's gonna do whatever she feels like and humans be damned.

The left hates the mobility of the non elite and considers it dangerous and inconvenient. It is harder to control people who can just go somewhere without getting permission and filing precise plans. The government tracking of all vehicular movement by license tag tracking will accomplish some of that.

The Gross World Product (GWP) last reported was $87.25 trillion. It is sometimes said that when mental illness progresses, it takes on some fixation, some mania that rules above all else. To demand an effort greater than the entire gross output of the planet to eliminate combustion engine vehicles, I’d say that reached the level of certifiably clinically insane. They’re in good company with Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona....

Years ago there was a cheesy movie named “The Last Chase” starring Lee (Million Dollar Man) Majors. It presented a dystopian view of a future society where all cars are banned (but curiously there are golf carts everywhere). I remember people saying it could never happen.
When it comes to totalitarian leftists I say “never say never”.

Redesigning cities like this will cause a population collapse of about 90%. China has already started down this road. It built massive dense cities and then when it loosened its one child policy, most continue to have one child because they have no space.

Part of fighting climate change will mean redesigning, or building anew, towns and cities without cars, Calderon says.
If they really believed this, they would get a bunch of investors together to finance these pipe dreams, build the cities themselves, and move there first.
Instead, they'll confiscate our money at the point of a gun via taxes, ruin what are already poorly functioning cities (mostly due to them and their nutty ideas), and then force us into them at the point of a gun - for our own good of course. It's just coincidence that they'll make fortunes skimming of this scheme and, oh, they'll also be exempt from living in the hellholes they create.

I could certainly understand the possible pleasures of living in city that was accessible without cars/trucks. Maybe I'd like to live in one someday.
But my pockets should not be picked to finance it. "They" should re-zone war-zone Detroit as ground zero for the city of the future and remove all barriers to innovation & development.
and I'd still like to see resettled - reactor issue - Japanese get involved in something like this.

The problem with guys like Gore is that they've actually convinced themselves that their fantasies really are for the greater good when they're really only about their personal greed and lust for power.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. -CS Lewis
