De Blasio: Clueless and flaky (dire storm warnings a mayoral snow job)

“Mayor Putz can’t even get a blizzard right!” de Blasio tried to wipe the egg off his face....b/c he had overreacted. He defended the shutting of roads, schools and mass transit, insisting New Yorkers “got lucky” when accumulation barely topped 6 inches.....his restrictions were far from ordinary and far from necessary. One business-owner complained unreasonable demands for early closings cost him $3 million....he was still steamed by de Blasio’s warning that business owners should not be “cheapskates.”

The storm also exposed that the mayor and the governor.....once described as longtime friends... clearly don’t talk to each other, or even cooperate. de Blasio said he didn’t know the governor was closing down the subways.....but quickly defended the decision.

With gazillions worth of city overtime racked up waiting for a blizzard that didn’t arrive, the cost to taxpayers will be the real snow job.

When the first weather report emerged, you can bet DeBlabbio was sweating bullets.

Number One-—he was flashing on Mayor Lindsay’s blunder—not plowing the city streets after a blizzard.

Number two—De Blobbio has never recovered from his stupid cop-hating episode.

He was scared of getting two strikes against him——so the Big Bird jumped in-—hoping to look the hero-—saving New Yorkers from the blizzard.

Too bad——his dire warnings that never materialized made the Birdman look stupid, again.

We’ve got an advisory in southern Michigan this morning. I might grab a few gallons of bottled water and call it good.

There is also the case of Chicago storm & Mayor there - c1979-1980. The result was a new Mayor, (the recently deceased) Jane Byrne.

66 for the high and clear here.
Going to go fly.
Then sit out back and drink beer.

The temperature shouldn’t be bad. We’re expecting some ice overnight.

The storm was bad in MA. Our new governor, Charlie Baker, seemed to handle it pretty well. His news conferences seemed smooth and professional to me, emphasizing team effort, and experienced staff work.

Charlie is quite a Liberal Republican, but I thought he came out of this looking pretty good. Unlike de Blasio.

De Blasio went full chicken little screaming about it being the worst storm in history.

His reaction was about power, what good is Fascism if you cannot wield the power. His reaction was not to the blizzard, because there was no blizzard to react to.

Just a little slio of the progressive mask.

I wonder why no one is blaming Obama? Isn’t the National Weather Service to blame for calling for 20-30 inches of snow in NYC? That is a massive mistake.

I was in Chicago then - there was a huge scramble to depose then-Mayor Michael Bilandic, who proved to have neither the public relations nor the gumption to govern with the strong hand needed during those few short days when the crisis was at its worse. “Clout” was the term bandied about, and apparently, Mayor Bilandic was decidedly lacking that attribute.

Worst of all, it was just before the primary election to select a Democrat candidate for mayor.

A perfect storm in so many ways for Jane Byrne.

Your link takes me to a story on Sheldon Silver. Look at both links on your post. Thanks.

The national weather service is no better or worse than anyone. Their prediction was within 50 miles and that’s not half bad.

My gut feeling was that it would go north of NYC but wasn’t based on anything.

But wouldn't anyone be an improvement over Patrick?

Anybody notice how much this mini-nondisaster characterized and stoked by alarmists, causing huge expenditures and putting people into panic mode resembles the global warming scam?

It doesn't matter. The sheeple of New York will forget all about Burgermeister Wilhelm's incompetence in no time.

They don't even realize he essentially invoked martial law. Arrested for simply walking on the sidewalk? Only government employees allowed to be on the road at all?

I'm surprised he didn't shut down the internet. I guess even dick taters have limits.

Liberals just cannot accept the fact that the natural forces of the planet and the universe are not fully predictable or subservient to them.
