A holocaust documentary about unreleased Alfred Hitchcock footage of the liberation of Nazi concentration camps aired in 15 countries Monday, as part of the international Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorations.
HBO’s “Night Will Fall” includes harrowing footage captured by the legendary filmmaker, who recorded the grim scene that met Allied troops at Bergen-Belsen, Dachau and Auschwitz in the spring of 1945.
Initially, Hitchcock together with media baron Sidney Bernstein were commissioned by the British government to make “German Concentration Camps Factual Survey,” a documentary that was intended to show Germans the horrors of Nazi brutality.

Heydrich got top-flight care from mostly German doctors, seemed to be recovering, then went into shock from septicimia (sez there). His injuries from the shrapnel were serious, the previous accounts I’d read had him lying wounded in his open car, but he actually got up and shot at his attackers, and gave chase before he realized he’d been seriously wounded. The boculism hypothesis doesn’t appear to hold water.

It is easy to say “Never Forget” and even think people mean it, but if you look around, night IS falling. This will happen again and the primary victims are already lining up - Conservatives, Christians and many Jews. It is now a matter of when and who will join the Muslims.
I watched ‘Night Will Fall’ last night. It was hard to watch, but not as hard as if Hitchcock and Bernstein were able to actually edit and cut their own movie, which they did not.
In the end, the project died because the Russians flipped from ally to adversary so quickly, and Churchill had reckoned that in very short order, Germany would make a suitable ally themselves.
He was a smart guy.
More on Heydrich. Both Himmler and Hitler found out that Heydrich was Jewish. Hitler met, at length, over an hour, with Heydrich personally on the issue. In the end, Hitler decided (above Himmler’s protestations (mild ones)) that the act of not only sparing but backing Heydrich would win his undying fealty.
It did. Heydrich was willing to do anything and everything. He was a perfect number two to Himmler, and Himmler really had issues when Heydrich died. Spread way too thin.
Yes, Hitler was firmly in Heydrich’s corner, also Heydrich had the dirt on all of the Nazi high-ups as well, in case he was ever threatened by them.
Heydrich also was a pilot who flew several missions before Hitler personally told him to stop. To me, of all the Nazi bigwigs, he was the most fascinating and complex, intellectually, he towered over the others, which I am sure earned him a lot of contempt from them.
He’s been portrayed several times in TV and movies, but the one that stuck with me was David Warner’s portrayal in the miniseries “Holocaust.”
I am five minutes into it.
I thought I had seen all of the holocaust videos. These are pretty tough to watch.

reaganaut, you are correct. And this time whomever comes forward to commit these acts will have things like drones, AI (Artificial Intelligence), DNA mapping, etc. to take the process to unprecedented levels, speed and accuracy.
