De Blasio Orders Indefinite Street Shutdown Tonight During Blizzard
New York Observer (via Drudge) ^ | 1/26/15 | Will Brederman

Posted on 01/27/2015 4:12:11 AM PST by P.O.E.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced this afternoon that he is shutting the city’s streets, schools and parks tonight until further notice as the city braces for a blizzard of historic proportions.

(SNIP)

Alternate side parking will be suspended through Wednesday, perhaps longer, and there will be no garbage pickups at least through mid-week. The mayor asked that citizens not attempt to clear their cars in the next several days, and not shovel snow into the streets or bury fire hydrants.

He also advised that New Yorkers remain indoors throughout the duration of the storm. Non-authorized persons caught driving in non-emergency situations will be subject to NYPD summons or even arrest.

“You’re not going anywhere until we lift the emergency order,” he said. “People have to make smart decisions from here on, careful decisions, recognize this as an emergency. It is not business as usual.”

I can't help but read this as a dress rehearsal.

....recognize this as an emergency. It is not business as usual

This is the same thing this type of tyrant would say in NYC when taking guns from citizens had he already not done so.

However, all is not lost, there are scores of others in scores of other places with the same tyrants who will echo these very words when they take the guns from their citizens.

Take careful notes, Folks - this time it’s a legitimate weather event.

Next time, it might not be...

I agree and wouldn’t comply either. But they will always try.

Try like they did in N.O. after Katrina, try like they did in Boston with illegal house-by-house searches after the Marathon bombing, try like ATF does going to gun stores and asking (illegally) for copies of the Forms 4473, and so on.

The storm that a few days ago was said to be good for up to 20 inches in my location finally delivered about 2 inches.

Global warming saved us from a disaster!

Didn’t we all know this storm would be another dud, dropping 5” of snow instead of 30”? The hundreds of reporters standing outside giving dire warnings produce so much hot air that it sucks the life out of any storm.

Looks about 4-6 inches here. Snow plows have bee through at least once. I haven’t seen any official accumulation totals (the weather forecasters at Weather.com and AccuWeather must be embarrassed) but if this is any sort of an all-time record snowstorm for New Jersey, I’ll eat my mittens.

I wouldn’t describe this storm as a “dud.” It just tracked further east than originally expected. My company’s Long Island office is buried under 2+ feet of snow.

The media hype before the fact was substantial. As of Sunday night, you the GFS model was moving the storm out to sea, but they kept beating the drumbeat of doom.

The union that controls the plows made bazillions in the phony storm....plowing nothing over and over.

I figured the bulk of the storm would be north of NYC.

Have been other similar outcomes, usually brought on by an overcompensation after some big screwup beforehand. In other cases, the media has nothing to do, or they have something else they want to cover up or deflect.

I love to be out and around in nasty weather.

Not as much as when I was a youngster but I still love to experience it.

6” only in Central Park!

Where is the 2’ to 3’ they were crowing about?

Here in NH it didn’t start till after midnight and we have maybe 6” or 7” now.

Could this be another hyped up event? /s
