Pope receives Spanish transexual, girlfriend

Vatican City, January 26 - Pope Francis on Saturday received in a private audience a Spanish transsexual and his girlfriend after the man wrote to him saying he had been cast out of the church in his native city, Spanish daily Hoy reported Monday. The transgender male, Diego Neria Lejarraga, a 48-year-old former woman, wrote to the pope some time ago saying he had been "marginalised" by Church officials in the city of Plasencia, in the southwestern region of Estremadura, Hoy said. Neria, a believer and a practising Catholic, said he had been rebuffed by elements of the local clergy and claimed the parish priest had called him "the Devil's daughter", Hoy reported. Francis phoned him twice in December, setting up Saturday''s meeting in St Martha's House, the Vatican guesthouse the pontiff lives in, Hoy said. The pope has said the Catholic Church should be more accepting of gays but recently failed to muster a big enough majority of cardinals to change doctrine on the issue. Asked about the reported meeting, official Vatican sources declined to comment.

We’ve gone from a president, a prime minister and a pope standing up for freedom and human rights (the real kind) to the Three Stooges offering succor to freaks and appeasement to stone killers.

My motto has always been, “Don’t visit a urologist unless absolutely necessary and then thank God for healthy appendages.”

That’s the first time I realized the transgender was a homosexual.

Yes, Francis does not say what Christ said. Pope Bergoglio has no problem criticizing practicing Catholics for their fertility, while he bows to the population “experts.” He says that every child is a treasure, BUT twice in the same airplane interview (on the way back to Rome January 19), he tells how he “reproached a woman” for her “irresponsible” eighth pregnancy. Dorothy Day would have not accepted his latter statement; she defended mothers of large families in print.

Is Dorothy Day’s remark to you quotable or published? I’ve read a lot of her writing, and she frequently criticized “luxuries”: “If I wrote to Archbishop Cooke and asked that Nativity Church be kept open, I wonder if the pastor and curates would agree. Of course, things would get stolen. If there are curtains, heavy rich red plush ones, in front of the confessionals, they might be taken home to be used as covers in the cold tenements, where too often the furnace breaks down. Or the candlesticks might disappear from the altar, to supply the light when the welfare check was used for food and the gas and electric was shut off” (”Catholic Worker,” October 1968).

She said it to me. She wasn’t talking about luxuries, but about the fact that being poor is not some romantic state that the poor secretly enjoy. Furthermore, while a gesture such as going to share their poverty may make you feel better, the poor really aren’t impressed by your making a gesture and joining them in poverty; they’d prefer not to be poor themselves. Poverty is not fun and it’s not a good thing.

Wallowing in luxury may not be, either, but that wasn’t what she was proposing as an alternative.

Did the Pope mention the fact the God forgives those who repent and before you are welcomed fully in the Church you are to take up the Cross, deny yourself, and leave your lesbian relationship. I don't remember the part where Jesus accepted prostitutes turning tricks with His disciples, did you. Also you don't think Popes in the past have never encountered sinners in their midst? You confuse righteous indignation/correction with acceptance and selfishness.

Even the lady's mom beg her not to change into a man. Once the mom died the lady broke another commandment. Are Christians to welcome sinners who perpetually, openly and arrogantly defile God's commandments because the only theology that counts is “what ever feels good do it” to hell with people who take all of Christianity (Even the righteous judgment parts) seriously.

Next thing you know, Francis will be hanging out with prostitutes.

Yours is probably the only worth while comment here - wonder how many of the knee-jerkers will grasp it.

Probably not.

I have heard of women taking that before but I don’t know if it has any effect at all. How could it?

Or stretched out, since the testosterone enlarges the clitoris.

Very few have a phalloplasty because of the numerous risks.

If Jesus welcomed and allowed prostitutes to keep on turning tricks within His ministry then the comment you praised that was associated with this news story would not have been an logical fallacy.

Should the lesbian receive Communion and should the Catholic Church offer the Sacrament of Matrimony to this lesbian couple? That is the meat of this situation.

The elementary business about sinners being welcomed is already dealt with because every believer was that lady before and have been washed cleaned. The debate is whether or not the lady's sins should be accepted and celebrated within the Church. Case in point, I was a fornicator and drug abuser. However when I joined the Church I did not celebrate my acceptance by snorting coke on the pews and fornicating with the nearest hottest female in the Church.

You are assuming that the Pope told them that their lifestyle was fine and dandy and IAW Catholic doctrine. Unless he did that, your argument is false and the fallacy lies with you. The comment I praised was truth to the point - Jesus hung out with sinners because it wasn't the well that need ministering to..

I started as a Catholic and opted for non-denominational because the Catholics put way too much adoration upon mortal men and women and also seems to think it can pre-judge whether or not someone should be able to commune with God/Jesus. You may be able to stop the "unclean" from participating in your sacraments, but you cannot keep them from doing as Jesus instructed when He said, "When you do this, do it in remembrance of Me".

Just as Jonah tried to stay away from those in Ninevah because he considered them too bad to be saved, you cannot stop God from redeeming those who do not fit into your doctrine/tenets/canons. You would be more in line with His Word and His wishes if you put as much effort into ministry to them than you do in trying to self-righteously condemning them - you don't have that authority - He is the Authority on things you wish you could control.

"... to self-righteously condemning them - you don't have that authority -"

Hyperbole much about condemnation, where is that at? Her home Church already told her what she needed to do to get back into the good graces of the Church. She caused a scene and the Pope did a photo-op. Why? She left the meeting declaring that a family will be formed within the Church with her girlfriend (In another article). The conclusion does not take much thought on how the meeting went if you actually learn more about this story.

Also since I am a male who has chosen to remain a male as well as her Pastor and mother, who she defied (After her death btw) by attempting to become a "male", I and they are sure as Christmas can righteously judge this already self admitted "Christian" lesbian trying to pervert the Church by strong arming her way in having the Church celebrate and accept her sin.

1 Corinthians gives the Pastor, Bishop, and yes, Congregation to *Judge* her full admittance into the Church. That fact that she already claims to be a practicing Catholic does not ring a bell at the main intentions (Hello).

The believers are to judge within. If this lady was a non-Christian you would be correct.

However you don't seem to know the difference between judging and condemning as well as what Jesus meant by righteous judgment (Who commanded us to do that btw) so unless you can grasp that along with 1 Corinthians 5, I Corinthians 1:10,etc... come back at me with something of substance.
