Poll: Rubio surges to second, just 3 points behind Romney
Washington Examiner ^ | January 23, 2015 | Paul Bedard

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s apparent decision to speed up his entry into the growing field of 2016 Republican presidential primary challengers is coming at the perfect time, as a new poll out Friday shows him moving into second place behind repeat candidate Mitt Romney.

What’s more, the gap in the new Zogby Analytics poll is tiny, just three percentage points. And Rubio, the freshest hopeful to show a determined interest in the race, is also tied with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

The poll finds that women especially favor Rubio and also that he has a lot of room to gain with men, who typically vote in majorities with Republicans in the general election.

Romney does better among men (20%) than women (13%) and among self-identified Republicans (19%). Bush also does better among men (16%) than women (10%) and gets 14% support among self-identified Republicans (14%). But Rubio is receiving 22% support among women to only 4% of men and does equally well (16% each) among both self-identified Republicans and conservatives.

I’d like to see 4 or 5 RINOs plus Cruz and Walker in the Republican primaries.

The poll was obviously conducted from a barstool in South Beach.

Just another rope a dope to try to get the GOP to “embrace diversity” and then get kicked in the butt by a smirking and laughing thug like Hillary.

Note they don’t have any ethnic types in their “top tier”. Just a couple of deranged white females desperate for revenge against their hated husband class.

” I’ll gladly take Scott Walker or Rubio. Both would be great Presidents.”

Yeah, both for amnesty. Let’s get America over with!

” You’re a perfect example of why the establishment keeps getting the candidate it wants. You’re clueless. “

Look in the mirror.

Does it bother you that Walker seems to favor a “path to citizenship” for lawbreakers?

” I will vote for any R against any D.”

That got us Drunkin Boner & McConnell, and Cornyn. And Flake, and McCain and many other traitor Establishment Republicans. Now they have no opposition. They want amnesty and Obamacare. The Chamber of Commerce has spent millions, and have spoken.

Livius, I despise Spanish people so much that I choose to spell my favorite candidate’s name “Cruise”, so I might forget that he is Spanish. *cough*

How are we to respect your judgment about Rubio’s intelligence after you make such a stupid comment?

What I should have said is that people on FR are anti-Catholic. Rubio is Catholic (although his family passed through both the Mormons and the Evangelicals after they emigrated, since these groups were trying to recruit Cubans through social services) and Cruz is an Evangelical. He also seems to completely reject his Spanish roots, obviously because this would not sit well with his audience.

Rubio give the distinct impression that his most passionate goal is to do whatever the establishment wants him to do.

Charles Krauthammer likes Marco Rubio, which may or may not be a recommendation in the eyes of some.

Charles Krauthamer could say that he likes Herman Humperdink and many people would jump on the Herman Humperdink band wagon.

Yes he has waffled on immigration changing his mind several times. Cruz would be my first choice.

People on FR don’t like him because he’s Hispanic...

That is easily the most vile and disruptive comment I've seen in recent memory here on Free Republic. Your implication is that FReepers judge people by their ethnicity. Nothing could be further from the truth. As Christian (and Jewish) Conservatives, the members here are color blind and care not a whit about the genealogy of any given person. That's an essential core value of Conservatism -- measuring an individual by his accomplishment and values not by skin color nor by one's parental origins.

Yes, I am indeed pinging the boss on your patently offensive remark. What you have done is slander this entire website and its members, the world's foremost source for Conservative activism. Jim has stated has racism is not tolerated here and I've never -- repeat never -- seen a scintilla of here (except from paid leftist disruptors). Likewise, ethnicity has never -- not once -- factored into a discussion of any individual (aside from liberal trolls seeking to damage the reputation of FR).

So we are having Romney picked for us again by the MSM and establishment? How do we stop this trend? Romney? Really? He had his chance and blew it! Plus he believes we are creating global warming. Tell that to the NY’ers at the grocery store lines right now preparing for the blizzard of the century. Pulling hair out! I can’t take this stuff any more. Jesus, please come get us PLEASE!!!

People on FR don’t like him (Rubio) because he’s Hispanic - but he’s not in favor of illegal immigration and feels correctly that the policy needs revision....

You picked up on the Racism thing here on FR too; huh?
