Poll: Rubio surges to second, just 3 points behind Romney
Washington Examiner ^ | January 23, 2015 | Paul Bedard

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s apparent decision to speed up his entry into the growing field of 2016 Republican presidential primary challengers is coming at the perfect time, as a new poll out Friday shows him moving into second place behind repeat candidate Mitt Romney.

What’s more, the gap in the new Zogby Analytics poll is tiny, just three percentage points. And Rubio, the freshest hopeful to show a determined interest in the race, is also tied with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

The poll finds that women especially favor Rubio and also that he has a lot of room to gain with men, who typically vote in majorities with Republicans in the general election.

Romney does better among men (20%) than women (13%) and among self-identified Republicans (19%). Bush also does better among men (16%) than women (10%) and gets 14% support among self-identified Republicans (14%). But Rubio is receiving 22% support among women to only 4% of men and does equally well (16% each) among both self-identified Republicans and conservatives.

Hmmmmm...... Don't know what to think about this. No surprise he is soaring among the "women vote"; he's the youngest and best looking of the field, but, I just find this hard to believe.

I wondered why as well. Could it be the hispanic factor? Could it be all the hype about him awhile back? He was supposedly the right’s Kennedy.

These polls are as absurd as they are meaningless.

Obviously, at this stage, fully a year before the primaries actually start, name ID is the biggest factor in most of these polls.

This “article” is merely a text message from the GOPe to the GOPtp. Translated, from GOPeze: “Since you won’t let us put in Jeb, and you won’t let us put Romeny in as the nominee, we’ll then just have to push Rubio.”

Poll results :

#1 is Romney (not again!)
#2a Jeb Bush and #2b Rubio tied for second place

Doesn't this remind you of our Romney-Newt-Santurum *choice* in 2012?

Now that they’ve polled Dade and Broward counties, will they progress to the rest of the country?

Which Kennedy? Teddy? Bobbie? JFK? Poppa Joe? the Supreme Court Justice? The one on Fox Business News?

Agreed, the Hispanic aspect makes Rubio look pretty good, but what about this “amnesty” thing? Only if it actually reflects a “refugee” status, not for opportunists that are looking for a handout from Uncle Sugar. Or to practice a little insurrection once here.

Charles Krauthammer likes Marco Rubio, which may or may not be a recommendation in the eyes of some.

Well, I guess Rubio as second place is better than King Bush III or Nanny Huckabee but these polls are still simply about name recognition at this point.

Battle of the RINOs, Part Deux!

What a load of crap. Rubio has almost 98% rating from the American Conservative Union. If he is RINO so was Ronald Reagan as he granted amnesty to illegals.

Attacking solidly conservative candidates that can win the nomination IS what gave us Romney and McCain the last two election cycles.

Expecting a perfect candidate is brain dead.

Only to someone completely ignorant. Rubio is far more conservative than any of those three. His voting record is far more conservative than Ronald Reagan's record as governor in California.

Rubio is an excellent speaker, very intelligent and a lot more conservative than Romney. People on FR don’t like him because he’s Hispanic - but he’s not in favor of illegal immigration and feels correctly that the policy needs revision (since it now favors Muslim countries). He’s very socially conservative, unlike Mittens.

Mitt needs to go away. He lost a sure thing for us last time.

It was Palin or Obama in the last election cycle. How'd that work out?

I'll gladly take Scott Walker or Rubio. Both would be great Presidents.

Undermining either one is STUPID because that will result in a choice between Jeb Bush and Hillary.

You're a perfect example of why the establishment keeps getting the candidate it wants. You're clueless.

Yes Romney did, just like McCain during that election....it was the plan. So those types should not ever be elected again or ever.
