"...if we are talking during winter, it would seem that the garage and refrigerator would provide enough insulation from the sub-freezing temperatures to keep the beer chilled...Well Friend, I live in Houston, and our hurricanes (and thus power outages) normally occur in the warmer months. Even in the winter it only drops to around 32 at night and warms during the day, so it is not great weather to keep frozen foods frozen. Our contingency plan involves cramming the fridge and wrapping it in a blanket.
Yes, frozen beer explodes if it is in glass. Cans just expand, but they lose their carbonation. I just make black and tans with those.

Us too. I don’t get this “we got to have milk and bread” deal every darn time it rains or snows!! Dudden people go to the store and buy on a regular basis??? When we buy, we stay ahead enough to be able to have to sit out a couple of weeks and not starve. I can live without a gallon of over priced milk, and my wife knows how to bake bread!

Well 2-3 feet of wet snow is no joke. Especially when you live on top of a hill with a 1/4 mile driveway that scares the crap out of people because it is so steep.
So I don’t concern my self with milk, bread and eggs. My concerns are snow chains, sand, a hot woodstove and a nice sharp chain on the chainsaw for the trees that come down across my road.

Keep in mind the audience. They have never seen temps over 98 degrees either.

I wonder when the pictures of empty store shelves will show up in the media.

You would think so, but watch and read close to half the the post on this thread will be about how it is nothing, nothing to be prepared for and laughing at those who urge or practice preparedness.

RE :”
OMG, NYC has never seen three feet of snow before. The end is near.
.....
Actually, I believe it has, but who cares? May it all fall on the mayor.” That was sarcasm. NYC has seen way more snow than this in the past.

If something like that blizzard hits my town, I’ll be grateful for my bit of firewood and extra cans of food I have stored. I won’t have to stand in line, if I can help it.
