Good post. New York City gets its drinking water from the Catskill Mountains -- 100+ miles away. NYC tap water regularly beats a lot of brands of bottled water in taste tests.

I'm a civil engineer by trade, and I've seen how sewage gets treated in some of the areas around NYC. Yes, it's not for the weak stomach. LOL.

As you probably know, it’s considered touristy and tacky to buy bottled water in restaurants in NYC!

Inside the aqueducts, there are numerous freshwater sponges that seem to do some additional filtration.
There use to be a lot of breweries in New York, mostly to do with the quality of the water. Much of that water infrastructure is at least a century old, and still going strong.
