Dean Cain Remembers American Sniper's Chris Kyle: He'd Prefer Fishing to Oscars
People ^

All the fuss over American Sniper – the Oscar buzz, the red-carpet premieres, the political debates – was not real-life sniper Chris Kyle's thing, says his friend, actor Dean Cain.

"It would be absolutely and completely surreal and strange to him," Cain tells PEOPLE. "And he'd probably want to go fishing. I'm not kidding. He'd go horseback riding. He'd want to do anything but be in the public eye."

"But," Cain adds, "if it was able to help his fellow servicemen, Chris would be fine."

The Navy SEAL and the former Lois and Clark star became tight when they were paired in 2012 to perform military-style operations on the NBC competition show Stars Earn Stripes. They played to benefit The Wounded Warrior Project.

Husband and I just saw the movie today. I left crying, so tragic the way his life ended. Our son is a Marine and was in Iraqi Freedom and did patrols and was hit by an IED but walked away with a concussion. God was with him that day.

Great movie.

 ”I left crying,”

When I left there was a woman ahead of me crying. I think it was a woman, my eyes were all messed up for some reason.

And thank you for raising a Marine, and a tough one at that. (or should I say tougher?)

I went to see American Sniper this last week. On a Wednesday workday afternoon, I usually see very few people in the theater. Not so this time. The theater was packed for this film. Instead of having the theater pretty much to myself, as is usually the case, I had trouble finding a single open seat.

It was a very good movie. Very fast moving. The war scenes were very realistic and graphic. But at other times, when Chris Kyle was between tours, at home with his wife and kids, there was a softer tone. Clint Eastwood did a great job directing this film.

There was no enthusiastic clapping or cheers when Kyle got the bad guys, as some might expect. The audience was quiet and respectful. When the film was over, there were some tears and quiet sobbing. It is a very emotionally moving movie. You could hear a pin drop when the credits were rolling. The audience was somber and obviously moved by the experience as they left the theater.

I can see why the liberals hates this movie. Besides breaking box office records and whipping Selma in the numbers, it is about everything the progressive left in this country hates. Our country, our military, patriotism, family, defending America and our freedoms and liberties. It feels good to see a pro-American war movie come out of that leftist sewer of Hollywood once in a while. Selma may win the Oscar because of the lefties who vote but American Sniper will win at the box office. The American people cherish movies like this at a time when our so-called leaders are running down America every chance they get.

Thank you- yes, he lost quite a few friends over there. He is doing well now since he is out of Marines. Now works on oil rig and is working in Thailand this month. Had to fly on Malaysian Air there and will fly back as well this month. But he won’t have to go back there after this haul. Will be working in Alaska in a few months.
