Awesome, Bambi is acknowledging one of the areas where the federal government has exceeded it’s authority.

Those who love liberty and don’t get off on bossing people around should be pleased.

I wouldn’t have had a problem with this 30 years ago when people were smart enough to make decisions and were held accountable for their actions. In the present state of affairs, this just compounds the current issues that are sucking the life out of this country. This will just add to those that aren’t willing to work, but still have an entitlement attitude. We are swirling the drain people.

Its too bad Hawaii didn’t legalize pot when he was in his 20s. He probably would have had a different career.

I don’t see Gov. Abbott of Texas doing this, not even medical. It’s already easier to buy pot here than bud light, so what’s the use?

Yes, this is what we should be focusing on, freakin’ weed. Today I read about Obummer giving $11 billion freakin’ dollars to Iran and then read another article where vets are stilled being massively screwed over at the VA, being made to wait 1200 days on disability appeal cases, and to top it off we had the White House accusing Bibi of spitting in The Ones face (I wish) and Lurch Kerry once again insisting radical Islam is not Islam.

Has there ever been a president who decided arbitrarily which federal laws he would decide to enforce and which he would ignore? I can’t seem to find an example anywhere in our history.

“The president said that it was “important for it to go forward because it’s important for society not to have a situation in which a large portion of people have at one time or another broken the law and only a select few get punished.””

I know it’s Obama’s argument (or more like his speech writer’s), but that’s a good argument for marijuana legalization there - something like 40% of the entire population has tried it at sometime, and a significant percentage of young people use it regularly. But only a few, and disproportionately the poor and minorities at that, ever get arrested or convicted for it. Ruining someone’s life with a criminal record for possessing some plant material and causing no harm to anyone else seems, well, counterproductive IMO.

That’s my opinion, anyway. I know there are many who would disagree, for a variety of reasons.

Legalization arguments aside, here’s another example of picking and choosing which laws this administration decides to enforce.

So the pro-legalization folks will cheer, the anti-legalization will boo...yet the main point is missed completely.

Malfeasance.

It must be recognized that too many people take their personal moral signals from what government declares to be legal or illegal.

Government should have never declared the ingestion of herbs to be an illegal activity. It is a basic aspect of liberty that we each own our own bodies. It would be far better for the headline of this article to say that more states are expected to remove themselves from their futile attempt to regulate this sphere of private life.

The left's interest: Keep 'em high and stupid.

I know libertarians are very righteous about this issue (at least some of them)...and I understand that position.

States ought to have a right to define this, as states ought to have a right to define marriage--without federal interference.

The left are hypocrites. They are banking on a philosophy of "no right or wrong" to help them gain more power. When you have a population that worships sex (whatever kind of sex they desire at the moment), and that is able to use chemicals to alter their brain into an abnormal high, then you can manipulate the citizenry any way you like--just keep giving them their addictions.

During those final days of the collapsing Marxist experiment in the Soviet Union, Soviet novelist Chingiz Aitmatov retold the following story, which has been paraphrased here.

On one occasion, so it was narrated, Stalin called for a live chicken and proceeded to use it to make an unforgettable point before some of his henchmen. Forcefully clutching the chicken in one hand, with the other he began to systematically pluck out its feathers. As the chicken struggled in vain to escape, he continued with the painful denuding until the bird was completely stripped. “Now you watch,” Stalin said as he placed the chicken on the floor and walked away with some bread crumbs in his hand. Incredibly, the fear-crazed chicken hobbled toward him and clung to the legs of his trousers. Stalin threw a handful of grain to the bird, and it began to follow him around the room, he turned to his dumbfounded colleagues and said quietly, “This is the way to rule the people. Did you see how that chicken followed me for food, even though I had caused it such torture? People are like that chicken. If you inflict inordinate pain on them they will follow you for food the rest of their lives.”
