The Patriots used underinflated footballs on Sunday night.
The next question is how did it happen?
According to a National Football League letter about the investigation into the controversy that was shared with the Globe, the Patriots were informed that the leagues initial findings indicated that the game balls did not meet specifications. The league inspected each of the Patriots 12 game balls twice at halftime, using different pressure gauges, and found footballs that were not properly inflated.
According to ESPN, 11 of the 12 game balls were found to be underinflated by about 2 pounds each. The NFL specifications say they must be inflated to 12½ to 13½ pounds.
The investigation is still ongoing.
A league spokesman declined to comment Tuesday, and earlier in the day, NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent told Pro Football Talk that the investigation would ideally be complete within two or three days.
If the Patriots are found to have deliberately doctored footballs, the organization can be fined a minimum of $25,000, and if the NFL finds the incident egregious, the Patriots could potentially lose a draft pick. In 2007, commissioner Roger Goodell took away a first-round draft pick and fined Patriots coach Bill Belichick after determining the team had spied on an opponent.

When Brady was asked about underinflated footballs he laughed and said “I think now I’ve heard everything.” It struck me at the time as a very poor acting job. The laughter was over the top.
It would be tough to produce a decent backyard football in the US for $10. I wonder if there is a market for a Made in the USA football in the $30-40 range that uses synthetic leather but good quality stitching and laces? I have a synthetic leather basketball that is almost indistinguishable from the real (i.e., leather) thing.
So I heard. So do those QB’s pay the ball boy to deflate them without the coach’s knowledge?
“If the mods want these things removed, theyll remove them. In the meantime, if you dont like them so much, ignore them.”
I’ll comment on stuff as I see fit. If you don’t like the fact that I disagree with you that’s just tough toenails! BTW, if you bother to look at the thread there were several folks who saw it the way i did. I guess you must be a closet DemoRAT wanting to shout down those with whom you disagree. Have a nice day wherever that might be.
I’m in agreement with you. This is the second cheating scandal for the Patriots, and I don’t think people will be keen on overlooking their cheating anymore. Integrity is supposed to count for something. I will always associate BB and TB with cheating. You can’t be winners if you’ve cheated to get there. This time, the Pats cheated in a post-game season.
I meant post-season game, not the other way around. Oops.
Ya think? LOL!
I am cheering one of the best Quarterbacks in history. I don’t look at politics with football and you shouldn’t either as a conservative. It is all about results and Tom Brady has proved himself.
Sorry....I changed my mind since my post. Have a great night.
I’m sorry; you see, you have it backwards. Democrats bitch and moan and point at things they don’t like. Republicans move along and get things done.
And the only reason I pointed out your thread in particular was that you added a racial element when none was necessary.
“Democrats bitch and moan and point at things they dont like. “
Must have just come from a trip to the mirror huh! As far as Republicans moving along and getting things done, where do you see that? I wished that it were true (and I am still registered as one), but so far, I see very little by way of getting anything substantive done. As Dennis Miller just opined on O’Reilly, there is a connection between the Patriots having deflated balls and the Republicans.

All Republicans aren’t politicians. I’m talking about the hard working folks who roll their sleeves up and get things done.
