Oh oh! The Santa Barbara News-Press wrote an article where they dared to call illegal immigrants “illegal immigrants,” and that's got people mad, and even worse, they hurt some peoples' feelings!
The News-Press ran the headline "Illegals Line Up for Driver's Licenses" on Jan. 3, prompting protests and a message painted in red on the wall of the newspaper's offices. The paper used the term again last Friday in another front page story: "Driving Legal Opens Door to Illegals' Past."
News-Press officials have stuck by their choice of language, saying that describing someone living in the country illegally as an "illegal" is accurate, and compared the vandalism on their offices to the deadly attack on the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris.
But community groups have denounced the newspaper, calling for an advertising boycott.
"They have a racist perspective and they don't seem very apologetic about it," said Savanah Maya, a Santa Barbara City College student and member of People Organizing for the Defense and Equal Rights of Santa Barbara Youth.
How is the word "illegal" racist? The article does not explain. By the way, how can a group like the People Organizing for the Defense and Equal Rights of Santa Barbara Youth (POFTDAEROSBY) articulately defend their position when they can't even think of a concise name for their own organization?
"I respect their right to free speech," said City Councilwoman Cathy Murillo, who attended the pro-immigrant rally, "but they don't have to be hateful. It's like the 'N-word' for blacks."
Calling illegal immigrants illegal immigrants is like the N word for blacks?

“How is the word “illegal” racist?”
Racist has become a term used to end the dialog and silence opposition.
Paging Mr. Orwell, Mr. George Orwell...
I like “criminal aliens”.
Yep years ago they were called illegal aliens. But the liberals in the media decided that was a pejorative term. In recent years the media have called them.illegal immigrants.
But now apparently the liberals have decided we can’t refer to them as being here illegally. Hurting their self esteem and all that. Liberals changing our language for no good reason.
The best retort when someone says, “That’s racist!” is, “So what!”
Is it just me? Or are all the MSM doofuses failing collectively to assert their absolute, unconditional right to use whatever words in the English language that they choose?
Foreign illegal and usually criminal koranimal groups and "Charities" MUST be controlled. The Constitution was never intended to be a suicide pact, as often iterated by the Supreme Court.
Better yet, make them explain how it is racist and watch them stutter and stammer while trying to come up with an answer.
The editor of this paper was on KFI yesterday and made some very enlightening comments...
The city councilwoman mentioned in this piece once worked for him and was dismissed for some reason some years back -—axe to grind?
The activists get their panties all wadded up over a word, but won’t engage on the what and why.
The activists want an “oversight committee” appointed to the newspaper to “ensure the publication is acceptable” -—IOW, censorship.
The newspaper recently won a lawsuit against former employees who were trying to exert editorial control over the newspaper and the paper won.
By all accounts and appearances, the newspaper has indicated they do not intend to back down.
Talked about being contacted by folks as faraway as Maryland for ad placements {FReepers ?} once this nonsense all started.
Do not let the leftists control the language.
Use the terms illegal immigrant or illegal alien.
Leftists use Alansky tatics to control language.
Fight Back for God’s sake.!

immigrants are legals by definition. there is no such thing as an illegal immigrant. Our forefathers were immigrants and legal. It besmirches their name to say “illegal immigrant.”
The proper language is “illegal alien.”
HA! HA! If it looks like a duck...etc.
WHAT crap!...That should be a U.S. taxpayer carrying both of them!!!
I've been fighting back since The First Rapist and Dubya were presidents...
Just sayin'
Sort of a contradiction in terms. Reminds me of homosexual marriage. The word marriage means a coming together of different or complementary elements. Linguistically speaking, both homosexual marriage and illegal immigrants are impossible descriptions of such people.
Just as “cheaters cheat” and “liars lie,” lawbreakers break the law; ergo, they are criminals. People need to be made to understand this. I don’t know why it’s so hard.
I prefer simply Immigrants.
If not immgrants, there must be a qualifier. I like my language.
Mail this to the GOPe. Apparently, they forgot.
