She's tired of suppressing herself to get along.
She doesn’t know or want to know what its like to live in a world where people don’t give two hoots about race.

Well see, that there’s your problem... you probably demanded roomies that HAVE JOBS and WORK and CONTRIBUTE TO THE RENT. When you’re picky like that, you’re gonna get Asians and honkies! That’s just how it is.
She was a fashion editor. Check.
She got tired of catering to others’ comforts. Check.
She quit and it was unfair. Tilt.
We can dialogue about race any time she likes. But she won’t like it. Not one bit.
I’ve been hearing the “conversation about race” for my entire life and whenever the opportunity arises, they shut it down. The “conversation” they desire is not a back and forth discussion like adults but they want “whites” to shut-up while they vent their spleens at us.
Mother Africa beckons.
But not concerned that she demands that others “suppress” themselves to get along.
She expects a unanimous agreement, not a discussion. She is not interested in broadening her horizons, but lambasts her roomies for not broadening theirs.
Typical liberal hypocrite.
White roommate mentions the Knockout Game. Wonders why the black female roommate doesn’t know about it. Bites his lip to get along.
Oh, wait, he’s white, so he doesn’t deserve any sympathy.
It gags me to think this is reality for the airheads these days.
If the author feels so suppressed, Africa beckons!
blackness is her religion - and she is extremely Orthodox. Anyone living with her, in Bed-Stuy/ New York City (the mecca of American leftism) should understand it would be like living with a devout Scientologist, or orthodox Muslim, or confirmed Marxist.
You will have to get used to their views and beliefs, because it influences everything they think and do.
Most of us “suppress” ourselves to some degree to get along with others. The movie, “Liar, Liar” demonstrates that fact. If we blurted out what we really think, we’d have few friends, get few jobs, an would be avoided by most folks.
Wasn’t MLK’s message that white & black should get along?

Does she mean THAT Michael Brown?
Or the ficiticious innocent ‘gentle giant’ who was pleading for his life with his hands up in the air? (according to the liar who robbed the store with him- NOT according to the 7 eyewitnesses, 2 of who ended up dead for telling the truth)

I want to be able to publicly express my honest admiration for being black,
If it's something you can't help, then why is it you "admire" it?
I'm white, but I don't have "admiration" for being white.
I'm a man, but I don't have "admiration" for being male.
I'm tall...
I'm relatively smart...
I have blue eyes...
I have a speech defect...
I have no admiration (nor any shame) about any of those.
So, move on, already.
