Sharpton and the black Oscar 'snub'

So in 2015 it has come down to neo-Leninists and Al Sharpton stirring the caldron of victimology by convincing gullible blacks that Hollywood is racist because no blacks were nominated for an Academy Award this year.

If black people were fish and self-inflicted victimology and immiseration were fat juicy night crawlers, Sharpton and the neo-Leninist racists would rule the lakes and streams.

Can a group of people be so collectively mindless, so easily led through the nose, as to behave like windup robots?

So what if none of the nominees are black. Are we now going to see affirmative action movies? Are we going to see Obama use executive orders to mandate that for every white nominee there must be two black nominees? Are we going to see Sharpton demand that there must be a special afri-movie category? Is he going to demand special awards for blacks? Are we on the cusp of the “outstanding black whatever” awards? And may I add, there would no doubt be dissension if more light-skin black actors won than dark-skin black actors.

Strangely, Dr. King’s ideals have been subverted. He may have been proud to see a halfrican-American(?) in the wh but probably embarrassed at his actions.

“Are we on the cusp of the “outstanding black whatever” awards?”

Yes, would they be satisfied if we just reserved one award for a black person every year? We could call it the “token” Oscar.

Doubtful. While it may be enough to knock down American Sniper, it won't shift the votes to Selma.

Consider that the Academy bailed on giving Brokeback Mountain the Oscar, and instead gave it to Crash.

They also had a chance to make a statement with The Last Temptation of Christ, which IIRC Robert Ebert predicted would win, not because it deserved to, but because of the controversy around it.

Basically, statements need to be pretty strong and broad to be made with Best Picture because the entire Academy votes for that award.

That award looks like an Uncle Tom. You need to slap a ‘fro with a Black Power Fist afro pick on him.
