Pope: Catholics Don't Have to Breed 'Like Rabbits' (would've loved to enter U.S. via Mexico border)

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE — Pope Francis is denouncing what he calls the "ideological colonization" of families and the developing world, where he says progressive, Western ideas about birth control and gay rights are increasingly being imposed by groups, institutions or individual nations — often as a condition for development aid.

No, he said, Catholics don't have to "be like rabbits" and have more children than is safe or responsible.

The Pope said there are plenty of church-approved ways to regulate births. But he said most importantly, no outside institution should impose its views on families.

Speaking to reporters en route home from the Philippines, he said: "Every people deserves to conserve its identity without being ideologically colonized."

~~~~SNIP~~~~~
Francis said he would have loved to have entered the U.S. via the Mexican border, saying it would have been a "beautiful thing, as a sign of brotherhood and of help to the immigrants."
I am a Protestant. I really liked the previous pope but this guy has me muttering to myself about what he says. Y’all would be better off with no pope.
I heard somewhere “those Catholic girls start much too late ...”
He has a way of putting foot in mouth better than Joe Bidden.
I used to say he’s the Obama of the Catholic church - now I think he’s Obama and Vixen all in one body.
The pope endorses anarchy? Even Jesus obeyed the law.
Now I can understand why pedophile priests were not given over to the local governments to face punishment as Catholic officials believe they are above the law.
I liked Pope Benedict, too.
He wasn’t perfect, but he wasn’t an “activist,” either.
I originally thought Benedict retired because of health reasons, but now I wonder if he was forced out for being a conservative.
Does the Catholic Church have a recall process for this infallible genius?
Good question. I'm no longer Catholic, but you'd think they'd have a process in place to handle a manifest heretic.
“The pontiff told reporters he wishes he could enter the U.S. through the Mexican border “as a sign of brotherhood and of help to the immigrants,” but will probably just fly directly to the East Coast.”
I guess we could hold a prayer vigil, asking that he might get lost halfway and wander in the desert for the next 40 years. 40 years without a Pope would be better for Catholics than 4 more of this guy...and I’m a baptist saying that!
He’s the Patty Murray of the Vatican...leaves you wondering how anyone so stupid could be elected to anything.
Well then, I guess he wouldn't mind if I just skipped on past the Vatican's security illegally and helped myself to their bounties; right??
This guy's choo-choo has gone around the bend.
It's OK. He's one of the special, important class.
Maybe he bought “carbon credits”, which when you think about it are modeled after catholic “indulgences”.
Hey, maybe the carbon credit racket can be turned over to the Pope to run for say three to four percent or so. No need for every nation to set up an expensive bureaucracy — THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of well-staffed brick and mortar “payment stations” — the catholics have a ton of expertise at peddling product by playing on guilt — it’s a win-win, baby!
I can’t decide whether the left has gotten to Francis or whether he is simply showing his true colors.
Very disappointing.
Every day this Pope has to say something new and shiny.
He’s turning out to be an egotistical socialist horse’s @ss.
Doesn’t seem to grok the church’s theological expectations of him, unless he’s a Lutheran plant to do to the church’s reputation what poor Martin never could :-)
(for the record I am a staunch Protestant. but I care because when part of Christendom becomes not just wrong but clownish, all of Christendom suffers.)
