Black American Hopes 'Selma' Bombs at the Box Office

I must admit to experiencing schadenfreude (feeling pleasure from the misfortunes of others) upon learning that Oprah's movie Selma was snubbed by the Oscars, receiving only two nominations.

As a black conservative Tea Party activist, I knew that the movie was simply another propaganda tool for the Democratic Party and America-hating leftists – a part of their ongoing hideous campaign promoting the lie that America sucks and blacks are still victims of an eternally racist country.  Sure enough, as I predicted, the usual suspects who produced Selma are being criticized for blatantly rewriting history.

Using my 1970s heyday lingo, I don't get where Oprah and other liberal mega-rich blacks are coming from.  America has been extremely good to these black celebs.  Blacks are only 12% of the population.  Therefore, Oprah's and her ilk's extraordinary prosperity and success are due to enthusiastic white support.  And yet these blacks exploit every opportunity to verbally beat up on white America.  I don't get it.

I love my country and realize that I am a black man blessed to be born in the greatest land of opportunity on the planet.  Why isn't Oprah out there praising America and spreading the message that the sky's the limit?  Her life bears irrefutable testimony to this truth.

During an interview, Oprah said, "What I do every day is to allow the truth to speak through me, and to open people's hearts, and to let them see the great possibility for themselves."  While Oprah's stated intention sounds wonderful, in that same interview, she says the shooting of Trayvon Martin was the "same thing" as the 1955 murder of 14-year-old Emmett Till.  Oprah, your comparison is not the truth.

That’s funny; fighting for his coat-tails. Which one you going to?

MLK would weep if he saw the state of blacks today, and be enraged at the “leadership”. Whatever he was (certainly flawed like the rest of us), he praised a solid work ethic and could attract whites (not just liberal ones) to his cause. He focused on the present, without wallowing in the previous century, and like Malcom X believed blacks had to help themselves.

I assume that they purpose of the scenes on the bridge are to make sure that future generations keep up their hatred toward whites. Yes, whites in that era were pretty darn bad to treat blacks like they did, but that was another era and they are not treated this way anymore. It keeps their racism business going and spreads hate.

Reminds me of the movie "A Time to Kill", based on a Grisham novel, in which two white dudes run roughshod over a predominantly black town. They push around all the pliant Stepin-Fetchit blacks and end up raping a little black girl. I guess the town was in some sort of 1930's time warp.

You never hear about how many whites were walking with the blacks for civil rights including Charleston Heston. That would make it sound like only blacks went south to help change the laws in the south. They cannot even tell the truth about Selma and how many whites were murdered in the south helping out.....

Why should I go see a film dedicated to “White Guilt” and the sainthood of MLK? I am going to miss it! It will win the oscar—only because a lot of the Hollywood Crowd want invites to The White House and good press from the New York Times. Its like Cecile B. DeMille getting the Oscar for the Greatest Show on Earth and not the Ten Commandments. hollywood being Hollywood—Bring back the Moguls—they knew it was all about making money and not feeding a political ideal.

Mr. Marcus exhibts the characteristics of “Stephens” (Samuel L. Jacksons roll on the movie D’Jango) I’m no supporter of MLK’s movement or the film because in my opinion it creates the narrative that in order for darker complected ppl to be considered equal to their white counterparts (not the average white person,but the ones that REALLY pull the strings in this nation) one has to lose their own identity,self worth & own values to conform to their so called superiors way of life (Where is that EQUALITY?) Our so-called integration into a fair & balanced American Society was really only an assimilation to our oppressors rule. We are forced to learn only a European history (which for most part is not accurate) and their European culture & not taught our own.(Again is that EQUALITY?) Thanks in part of MLK’s so-called dream to leave it in the hands of the oppressor to teach us what they essentially robbed us of in the 1st place We could end racism in this country tomorrow if they taught the real truth & history in schools across this nation today.MLK may have been a good man, but he was no Moses...
Oh & Mr Marcus what your beloved Rush Limbaugh failed to mention is that according to the Bureau Of Justice Statistics it shows that most crime is Instra-Racial. The statistics show that 83% of white ppl are killed by other white ppl.Crime is often associated with proximity,which means your more likely to be offended or the offendervby the ppl you live in proximity with..So in other words you cant say black on black crime without acknowledging white on white crime as well..But as Edward Burnays would say WE ALL OUR SHEEPLE controlled by our irrational thoughts by the ppl we dont even know..So to sum it all up white ppl ya’ll are N’words too, just with less melanin in your skin
