‘For God and country’ recruiting poster removed; ‘God’ is a problem in Obama’s military?

A Phoenix-area U.S. Army recruiting station was ordered Friday to remove a poster depicting a “stock image” of a Special Forces patch along with Ranger, Airborne and Special Forces tabs. The problem lay in what wasn’t “stock” — the phrase, “On a mission for both God and country.”

The poster was put together and displayed without prior approval from Army Recruiting Command, according to Army Times.

“Had the process been followed, the copy shown would not have been approved,” spokesman Brian Lepley told the Times.

It was the “God” part they had a problem with. The Army Times reported:

The command first became aware of the poster Friday morning when it received questions about the display from Army Times. It was unclear when the display went up, but images of the sandwich board outside a recruiting office appear online in places like Reddit and Flickr with dates as far back as October.

It received more online attention on Thursday, when an image of the display was the center of a news release and a post on the Daily Kos website from Mikey Weinstein, president and founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. In the post, which had nearly 400 comments as of Friday afternoon, Weinstein called the display a “stunning, unconstitutional disgrace” and labeled it the “Poster of Shame.”

“The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is delighted that the Constitution has been adhered to by the U.S. Army Recruiting Command,” Weinstein said after the poster had been removed. “But whoever, in any way, shape or form, allowed that poster to be designed, prepared and displayed, those individuals should be aggressively investigated and very visibly punished.”

The Washington Times picked up the story Saturday, and the response from its readers was swift and harsh. Here are a few examples posted on Twitter:

Now they should have known that God means Allah in the White House. Just a silly mistake.

Won’t be long before it is no longer fighting for our century, either.

The ruling elites expect everyone to be a “citizen of the world.”

Yeah. And “Country” is a problem, too.

America is under judgment with Hussein in the White House. Only God can remove him.

EVEN if it mentions “Jesus,” to whom would it refer? The “Jesus” Episcopalians or Baptists or Mormons refer?

There is no such thing as Military Religious Freedom. We are spiritual creatures. Our spirits navigate toward God or Satan. Weinstein is trying to run a Military Freedom From God Foundation. Does he even realize he is serving Satan?

From the Wallbuilders.com web site, we may read the words of the Commanding General and President of the United States:
George Washington

JUDGE; MEMBER OF THE CONTINENTAL CONGRESS; COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE CONTINENTAL ARMY; PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION; FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES; “FATHER OF HIS COUNTRY”

You do well to wish to learn our arts and ways of life, and above all, the religion of Jesus Christ. These will make you a greater and happier people than you are.121

While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.122

The blessing and protection of Heaven are at all times necessary but especially so in times of public distress and danger. The General hopes and trusts that every officer and man will endeavor to live and act as becomes a Christian soldier, defending the dearest rights and liberties of his country.123

I now make it my earnest prayer that God would… most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of the mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion.124

Footnotes 121-124:

123. George Washington, The Writings of George Washington, John C. Fitzpatrick, editor (Washington: Government Printing Office, 1932), Vol. 5, p. 245, July 9, 1776 Order. (Return)

Robinson, 1784), p. 150. (Return)

Or, perhaps we might consult the following words of Madison in his, "A Memorial and Remonstrance. . . ." - James Madison

Excerpt:

Excerpt "Because we hold it for a fundamental and undeniable truth, “that Religion or the duty which we owe to our Creator and the Manner of discharging it, can be directed only by reason and conviction, not by force or violence.”

"The Religion then of every man must be left to the conviction and conscience of every man; and it is the right of every man to exercise it as these may dictate. This right is in its nature an unalienable right. It is unalienable; because the opinions of men, depending only on the evidence contemplated by their own minds, cannot follow the dictates of other men: It is unalienable also; because what is here a right towards men, is a duty towards the Creator. It is the duty of every man to render to the Creator such homage, and such only, as he believes to be acceptable to him. This duty is precedent both in order of time and degree of obligation, to the claims of Civil Society. Before any man can be considered as a member of Civil Society, he must be considered as a subject of the Governor of the Universe: And if a member of Civil Society, who enters into any subordinate Association, must always do it with a reservation of his duty to the general authority; much more must every man who becomes a member of any particular Civil Society, do it with a saving of his allegiance to the Universal Sovereign. We maintain therefore that in matters of Religion, no man’s right is abridged by the institution of Civil Society, and that Religion is wholly exempt from its cognizance." - James Madison

Is there anywhere a clearer statement of the underlying principle of the U. S. Constitution's provisions and protections for "the People's" rights and liberties?

The very foundation of the Founders' Declaration of Independence from a "government-over-people" rule to one of a people's recognition of "overruling Providence" and "people-over-government" liberty was summarized in Jefferson's, "The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them."

In our generation, do we not see that "hand of force" unmasked at the same time as that same "hand" not only is reluctant to recognize Madison's "Creator," "the Governor of the Universe," and "Universal Sovereign," or Jefferson's "the God who gave us life," but utilizes that "hand of force" to deny public discourse to include those descriptions in its "politically-correct" discourse or teaching of the youth of America?

Atheists are continually emboldened and are achieving their godless / moral relevancy goals.
That said, I don’t believe this country serves Jesus or Christianity any more.
And I’ve always had great apprehension with the image of blowing up /incinerating innocent civilians during the course of “fighting for our country”, when we’re friends and enemies depending upon ever changing WH CIA RAND calculus.
Speaking for myself spiritually, I can’t imagine Jesus approving of drone mass casualties, kill-and-break-things nation building, and god forbid nuclear war.
I’m not a pacifist, by any means. We need Strong fearsome defense to defend our nation.
Its just that I have ever increasing doubt and concern about our nation’s morality, motives and disasterous results when deploying our armed forces to foreign entanglements. Particularly Muslim nations - Al Queida is our enemy <2010, and now a frienemy.
