Germany's anti-Islamic PEGIDA movement said it has cancelled a planned march on Monday, citing a death threat against organisers from the Islamic State jihadist group.
"Cancelled! Dear friends, unfortunately we must cancel our 13th meeting due to security concerns," the group "Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the Occident" said on its Facebook page on Sunday.
"What in police jargon is called an 'abstract threat' has changed to a 'concrete death threat' against a member of the organising team. IS terrorists have ordered his assassination."
"We take these leads very seriously," Spiegel quoted an unnamed high-ranking security official as saying.
PEGIDA said it had discussed the threat with state police and the internal security agency.
It had decided to scrap the event in the eastern city of Dresden as it could not guarantee the security of marchers and feared "collateral damage".
Top-circulation daily Bild said in an online report that the threat targeted PEGIDA founder Lutz Bachmann.

DUMB! They should have marched anyway. This is a cause worth dying for — the very survival of your nation. Hate to say it, but if they are attacked, it will TRIPLE support for their cause among the German people.
If nothing else, when the camel’s back breaks goes up we can rid ourselves of both halves of the equation.
If they track these threats, they may have originated in Merkel’s office. After all, she believes “Islam belongs in Germany.”
All the more reason to show up.
Actually, in the German version in Der Spiegel, the Dresden Police forbid (banned) the rally due to threats from the (non)Islamic State.
They make the organizers look like wusses. Pegida already stands up to the rent-a-mob anti-fascist fascist thugs.
Look, Men of the West, we can't allow terrorists to determine what we do. Just because they've talked about attacking Pegida, doesn't mean, Pegida should stand down. We can't allow this.
The Nazis in this scenario are the Islamonazis and the Antifa, the leftwing rent-a-mob styling themselves as anti-fascists. They are the fascists. Pegida are citizens and small d, democrats.
I look at the facts, and the facts are these:
FACT: Europeans are slowly regaining their courage to stand against the Muslim.
FACT: PEGIDA are not Nazis. A simple scan of their website is enough.
FACT: Beck is an ass.
FACT: Only the timid who have been beaten down by political correctness and their Socialist masters could not be cheered at the sight of our own defending our own.
So, it was the German Polizei who declared the PEGIDA march to be “verboten” & “untersagt”, not the march organizers caving in to Koranimals’ threats.
Frau Merkel needs to start wearing that burka - soon!
