Here's another one: "Kroger was chided because signs in its parking lots werent in Spanish as well as English."
I make a point of taking my business to places that do NOT have multilingual signs or phone messages, particularly Spanish. I resent having a foreign language foisted on me in my own country.
I make an exception for tourist-oriented businesses. One place where we really ought to have multilingual signs and don’t is in the subway (like they do in most European countries). But that would require effort on the part of the government, as opposed to having the government imposing onerous requirements on us.
And btw, I can speak passable Spanish, along with several other languages, and I am an (unpaid) ESL teacher. So, no, I am not a “hater.”
We buy about 2 cases of “Science Diet “ dog food for our dogs about twice a month. Invariably the cases are on the store shelf “Spanish side out”.
Now, I don’t know how much of a rush they have on Science Diet, by Hispanics ( who don’t speak English) here in Georgia, but to retaliate I just destroy the order display on the shelves.
I’ve spoken to a few employees there about it, who seem to care less, so this my own little revenge.
The needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few.
My ancestors immigrated from Ireland.
I see don't signs in parking lots in Irish.

A few years ago, our McDonalds put up a Spanish menu. It was quickly replaced with all English.
