The state should be removed from marriage.
I tend to agree — it’s not a popular idea around here, and I understand why, but sadly we aren’t going to return back to national sanity for a long time to come — getting the state out of marriage entirely is probably our best bet at this point.
I tend to agree. Marriage derives its meaning and significance from religious precepts. Government got involved through the door of Family Law, in the interest of children, who by nature, are not able to represent their own rights and interests.
The State now re-defining marriage, in fact, represents the State turning away from that one possible legitimate interest of Family Law. Children, and the protection of their rights to be raised by a father and mother, are the losers either way.
The state isn't involved in your marriage, unless you were one of those who wanted a state approved marriage.
Were you?
Because you can ignore getting government approval if you choose, you could 100 years ago, and 200 years ago, but George Washington and Thomas Jefferson wanted state approval, Washington even had to submit to investigation and Jefferson wanted to have a marriage license, but you don't have to.
Marriage is a political battle, your posts are a way of supporting the left by trying to dishonestly convince conservatives to surrender and leave the left unopposed, in making the marriage laws of America.
