Putinism may be fine at propping up the personal rule of a vainglorious former KGB agent, an arch criminal turned president for life. But as a form of government its proving to be just another aberrant form of self-serving kleptocracy. It has a veneer of pseudo conservative rhetoric designed to appeal to conservatives in name only, yet the absence of the rule of law and property rights make it just one more example of why statism fails every time. Lord Acton said "Power corrupts. Abolute power corrupts absolutely." Putinism only corrupts.
