Schoolbooks will not be allowed to publish references to pork, for fear of offending Muslims or Jews. According to a speech made Monday on BBC Radio 4, a leading educational publisher, Oxford University Press, is banning the reference to pigs, sausages, or anything pork-related in their books.
The wife of the 'Today' program's presenter, Eleanor Updale received a letter from the publishing company after pitching an idea for an educational series, the Daily Mail reported.
"Among the things prohibited in the text that was commissioned by OUP [Oxford University Press] was the following: Pigs plus sausages, or anything else which could be perceived as pork," she was quoted as saying.
The Jewish Leadership Council said in response that "Jewish law prohibits eating pork, not the mention of the word, or the animal from which it derives."...

Musn’t offend the savages. Just like walking by a cage of monkeys. Don’t get them riled, or they’ll scream and fling stuff at you.
The right thing to do is send the monkeys back to the wild. And send the savages back to where they came from.
Fear of offending Jews? LOL. Jews have been in the UK for how many centuries? And for all those centuries there have been children's books in the UK that include pigs. The degrees to which the media will go to provide cover for government efforts to bend to Muslim intolerance are comical.
Complete and utter b.s., never heard of a Jew being offended by the word, "pork".
surely this is some kind of silly satire...
no intelligent publisher could possibly do anything this crazy
I used to work with a Jewish fellow who had a pet pot-bellied pig named Bailey. He told his rabbi before the pig was gotten, and the rabbi just laughed, “You aren’t eating your dog or cat are you? Have fun with your pet pig.”
Absolutely. It is quite permissible even for the most pious of Jewish Person to keep livestock even if it is not Kosher for eating. For example, the Torah has many instances where camels are mentioned as a beast of burden and a item of wealth. Just don’t EAT them!
Right — and I don’t understand how any of this relates to showing the Three Little Pigs or some other child’s fairy tale where pigs are characters. So I don’t see how having a pig as a character in a story could be offensive to anyone.
Sesame Street’s Mz Piggy, used unprintable word’s in response.
Here is a little ode I penned earlier today in light of this travesty:
A poem:
In Praise of Pork
Ah the succulent tenderloin
The fatback and the bacon
That doth the sullen night purloin
And banish as I waken
The noisome vapors of the night
Are dispelled without e’en trying
Replaced by wafting in new light,
And the smell of bacon frying.
Lo! The Maple flavoring!
The Spices and the Salt!
How I will miss the savoring
On that day when I go Galt!
On Pizza, you must have the cheese,
Without it, it is phoney.
It won’t pass muster, if you please,
Without the pepperoni!
A luau sans Kalua Pig
A Vegan Barbeque
Wouldst leave a hole so very Big
A freight train could ride through!
I want my Pig! I want my Pork!
And so, Begone, You Wrecker!
I’d like to stab you with my fork
and kick you back to Mecca!
Soon the full English breakfast will be 5 varieties of hummus.
Nihilism has its consequences.
Hmmm...
No 3 Little Pigs?
No Ms. Piggy?
Has it occurred to anybody that we’re under no obligation to cater Islam?
We both know they drag the Jews into this so as to avoid seen being a conduit of the Muslims.
What? No bangers and beer in kids books?
A sad breakfast indeed. Hummous is not food fit for a human. It’s really pig food.
