We must never hesitate to stand with our allies. We should never hesitate to speak the truth. In Paris or anywhere else in the world.
On Sunday, leaders representing Europe, Israel, Africa, Russia, and the Middle East linked arms and marched together down Place de la Concorde in Paris. But, sadly, no one from the White House was found among the more than 40 Presidents and Prime Ministers who walked the streets with hundreds of thousands of French citizens demonstrating their solidarity against radical Islamic terrorists.
The absence is symbolic of the lack of American leadership on the world stage, and it is dangerous. The attack on Paris, just like previous assaults on Israel and other allies, is an attack on our shared values. And, we are stronger when we stand together, as French President François Hollande said, for “liberty, equality, and fraternity.”

France doesn't have a problem with radical Muslims.

Obama's people say he didn't want to be the center of attention. That may sound modest, but you could ask why he expects to always be the center of attention, which sounds vain.
Maybe, maybe not, but did the administration object to sending another high level official to France, because they thought it would put someone other than the president in the spot light? In which case we're back to Obama really is vain.
I think you have noted/spotted the reason for not attending ie Valerie Jarrett.
The main problem I have with Barry going places is that he always comes back. Why can’t he just stay gone?

No. That would have been political suicide. If Cruz was there - marching in support of their argument that this had nothing to do with the Muslim religion - then Cruz would be over and done.
Was that a political rally, or was that an event commemorating the 40th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy ... at a cemetery where thousands of AMERICAN soldiers are buried?

At this point I’m just glad that he didn’t go to Yemen, or ISIS, or Iran and march with the jihadists.

I'm ashamed, too, that we didn't at least send someone higher ranking than Jane Hartley. To me the rally transcends national differences, opinions about Charlie, some didn't even know what it was for lol.
If it's such a no-brainier that the U.S. should have been represented by someone of consequence at that rally, then why did every one of those people he referenced in his article decide not to attend?

I agree with this. Since this rally was basically about freedom of expression, which is central to our Constitution, I can see that the US should express some sort of support. But Obama had already done that verbally. If the president of the US had shown up with Secret Service protection, etc., this would have been a distraction and disruption for the rally. Plus the president of the US has more important tasks than taking 2 or 3 days off to put in a symbolic appearance.
If Cruz were already president he would not have gone to Paris. But since he's just running for president he decided to use this as an issue.
In my opinion, this was not worth our time, energy, and money. Regardless of who’s President, this would’ve been a logistical and security nightmare, and for what?

These preening Euroweenies with their “symbolism over substance” march for unity are the same dolts that let his happen. I think we should have sent Kerry. He would blend in with the priggish twits standing arm in arm for a photo-op while letting their countries be destroyed.
