Sounds a bit like my story.

Resistance is futile.

The plan is designed to make independence nearly impossible for most people. Future generations won’t even consider it.

People who now have deductibles of $6000-$12000 won’t be going to the doctor unless the problem is severe. That’s already happening in our circle of friends.

Look for more folks to just simply say “no”.

My wife turned 65 in December and went on Medicare. Just in time as her insurance was going to be more than double last year’s rate.

Someone can have hundreds of thousands of savings, earn less than $95,000 a year and have me handing them welfare money.

It's atrocious.

I can sympathize completely with the philosophy of self reliance espoused by Grace Brewer in this article and the others who have refused to accept subsidies for health insurance taken from hardworking taxpayers in the USA. My own situation in early retirement of high net worth and low yearly income qualifies me for substantial subsidies, but they couldn't pay me enough to enroll at HealthCare.gov or otherwise participate in the atrocity of Obamacare.

Grace Brewer is a brave patriot making far more of a sacrifice without coverage than I'm facing. My high-deductible HSA policy is one of the few that was grandfathered under Obamacare and has survived (for now).

That is not to say my healthcare coverage escaped the tremendous increase in premiums caused by Obamacare. Blue Cross has doubled my monthly premium since Obamacare was signed to keep pace with the unsubsidized cost of high-deductible plans on the government exchange. How pathetic it is to be considered lucky to have a catastrophic plan that covers 100% of costs after a $5000 deductible.

Curse Obama and the Democrat Party for imposing this wealth redistribution burden on middle class taxpayers fraudulently hidden under the guise of "healthcare reform".
