Notably, our newly elected House Speaker and Senate Majority Leader also elected to not attend.

What a golden opportunity to differentiate yourself from the current Administration.

Of course, Boner and McTurtle didn’t want to risk pi$$ing-off the New York Times.

Probably no one realized until the event itself that the US was not going to be represented at all. It’s a pretty breathtaking international insult and it’s hard to imagine that even Obama would be so cold, arrogant and offensive. But he has exceeded everyone’s expectations with this one.

I don’t want the congress doing “hands-on” foreign relations, negotiations, diplomacy and the like. That’s not how our government is set up. I didn’t like it when the Democrats tried it during the Reagan and Dubya administrations and I wouldn’t like it now, despite how much I despise and loathe our current chief magistrate. They are in an oversight, appropriations, legislation and advise & consent role.

I have to tell you, I am truly disappointed in our Constitution. It does NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING to protect us from a dictator.

I wouldn't hold this against any of them: including Obama, Holder, Boehner, etc. There's something about participating in a "march for unity" in a foreign country that seems beneath a U.S. leader.

Offer your condolences. Maybe even make an unscheduled visit to France to do this directly to their leaders. But there's something silly and juvenile about marching in the streets in a foreign land over this.

Had they attended, it would have given the MSM ammo to deflect attention away from Obama's no-show. All the media would be talking about is how disgraceful it was for the Republicans to upstage and embarrass Obama in this manner.
