'A Muslim shop worker has told how he saved "15 to 20" customers at a Jewish supermarket attacked by terrorist Amedy Coulibaly.
Lassana Bathily was out of the gunman's view when he stormed the Hypercacher store in eastern Paris with guns blazing.
A number of shoppers fled down stairs at the back of the shop, where they ran into the 24-year-old assistant, who thought the group could hide in a cold storage room in the basement.
He has been credited with helping the hostages - including a father and his young son - to survive the siege, in which four were killed by Coulibaly.
He told France's BFMTV: "I went to the freezer, I opened the door and a number of people came in with me.
"I turned off the light and the freezer. I told them to keep calm, to not make any noise."
After managing to escape through a goods lift and an emergency exit, Mr Bathily was initially suspected of being a terrorist accomplice.
He said: "I ran out, I saw police officers who told me 'Lie down! Hands on your head!'"
After explaining who he was, Mr Bathily was able to provide officers with useful information about the layout of the store and where customers had been hiding.
After police stormed the building and killed Coulibaly, some of the freed hostages thanked him and shook his hand, he said.
Explaining why he acted as he did, Mr Bathily said: "We are all brothers. It's not a question of Jews, Christians or Muslims.
"We were all in the same boat, we had to help each other to get out of the crisis."'

You’re right; one of the Kenyan policemen that saved people in the Westgate Mall attack in Kenya said that even though he is Muslim, the actions of the Somali Muslim attackers were not “Islam” - and though he was wounded, he would do it all over again, risking his life to save non-Muslims from these animals.
Well, that’s one way to deal with facts that don’t match your preconceptions.
In Iraq - the Shi’ite - 70 or near 80 % of population, was illiterate.
They didn’t read or write - but had Clerics bent on Western destruction...they were “radicalized” to target US and Coalition Troops...
This moslem that acted decently - probably does not attend the mosque daily - does not hold grudges like traditional M.E. Arabs do - and cares nothing for the Arabic culture and traditions - so calling him a moslem is an error...
Good for him but so what? That does nothing to address the real and present danger coming from Islam, multiculturalism and tolerance.

I will say something positive about Muslims and could care less what the few morons here think or say about it. I know good decent Muslims who in no way support this violence or believe it is part of the Islamic teachings. MOST Muslims in the world fall into this category, the problem is there are 100 million, maybe 200 million Muslims who do support these violent Jihad acts.
The few morons here who think all Muslims should be killed are trash and are on the level of the ISIS scum in the M.E. And the other Morons who think most Muslims support this kind of violence are too stupid to converse with on anything.

The point is that the normal and decent people of the Muslim community don't seem capable of acting as a political and social counterweight to the Islamists, either due to passivity, fear, or conflicted loyalties (i.e. not wanting to betray "one of their own", no matter how terrible they acknowledge him to be). It's kind of analogous to how the normal working and middle-class blacks in America can't seem to act as a political and social counterweight to the thugs and race-victim hustlers. That's why this guy stands out.
Poor guy is toast.
