When I was a kid during the Viet Nam war, the F-4 Phantoms would fly way over the house on the way to the Naval Station and we’d hear the sonic “boom” of their flying faster than the speed of sound; scare the dog, rattle the windows and we’d laugh that nervous laugh of knowing there were some bad, ass- kicking flying machines doing their business up above. I swear if we ever commit again to fighting a war the way we did in WWII, we’d have peace for a long, long time. There’d be a lot of dead people on the other side of the equation, but that’s the history of the world.

Mysterious booming sounds are heard around the world. There are the famous Seneca Guns of upper New York state that were the inspiration for the tale of Rip Van Winkle by Washington Irving.

There are recurring booms off the coast of North Carolina, often powerful enough to rattle windows and doors. They cannot be explained by thunderstorms or any manmade sources: they remain a mystery, according to LiveScience.

In coastal Belgium, they are known as "mistpouffers," or fog belches; in the Ganges delta and the Bay of Bengal, "Bansal guns;" in the Italian Apennines, "brontidi," or thunder-like; and by the Harami people of Shikoku, Japan, "yan."

I was reading an interesting book on how the sudden drop in temperatures linked to the ice ages correlates well with the timing of magnetic reversals of the Earth’s magnetic core.
When the core is reversing, it alters the flow of magma, triggering more eruptions and earthquakes. We know the ash thrown up by volcanic activity can cool the Earth. Add that on a large scale with the extra precipitation it causes and the sunlight reflected back to space, and you get an ice age.
The magma shifts could also explain why Oklahoma and now Texas are seeing a lot of little quakes but hadn’t previously; lots of reports blame fracking, but not all of the areas have fracking wells right there.
Ten major volcanoes have erupted along the Ring of Fire during 2012-2013. It may be related to the shifting magnetic poles. It is not related to “climate change” as some have blamed it, saying that melting glaciers release so much pressure on the continental plates that faults shift and eruptions occur.

I heard something like that on an extremely cold night many years ago. I opened the door to look out because I could hear noises from the plant two miles away when “BOOM”!

I thought something had blown up and expected to hear the warning sirens from the plant go off. Nothing. The plant continued to operate and nothing was said about any explosions anywhere near the town.

The ghost of Le Petomaine?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Petomane

Le Pétomane , French pronunciation: [petman]) was the stage name of the French flatulist (professional farter) and entertainer Joseph Pujol (June 1, 1857 – 1945). He was famous for his remarkable control of the abdominal muscles, which enabled him to seemingly fart at will. His stage name combines the French verb péter, “to fart” with the -mane, “-maniac” suffix, which translates to “fartomaniac”. The profession is also referred to as “flatulist”, “farteur”, or “fartiste”.[1]

It is a common misconception that Joseph Pujol actually passed intestinal gas as part of his stage performance. Rather, Pujol was able to “inhale” or move air into his rectum and then control the release of that air with his anal sphincter muscles. Evidence of his ability to control those muscles was seen in the early accounts of demonstrations of his abilities to fellow soldiers.

Tannerite can definitely be a source! Friend of mine shot a few of those last year around a lake...boomed for miles...Had people calling us from 2 miles away wondering if we heard the noise.

You can go to youtube and see what people have done when they mixed more than the allowed quantity. I’m surprised this stuff isn’t outlawed....

The Norman Transcript ran an article yesterday from a National Weather Service meteorologist that discounted cryoseismic boom because the ground was not wet or cold enough.

Wal, you may be on to something. Found this article:

http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/local/investigates/2014/11/10/dangerous-explosive-available-for-sale-with-no-limits/18833655/

State puts no limits on sale of powerful explosive

NEWS 8 INVESTIGATES

“We already know the explosive potential of ammonium nitrate. It was witnessed during the deadly fertilizer storage facility explosion in West, Texas last year.

So potentially destructive is ammonium nitrate that Attorney General Abbott issued a ruling that the location of ammonium nitrate fertilizer can be withheld from public disclosure. Abbott cited a state law containing provisions that define ammonium nitrate as “an explosive weapon” that should be protected from falling into the wrong hands.

What Abbott may have failed to take into account are the hundreds of facilities all over North Texas where ammonium nitrate is actually marketed as an explosive. It’s called Tannerite, and it can be purchased over the counter in most every retail outlet where ammunition is sold.

Tannerite exploding rifle targets are totally legitimate, and in their packaged form are perfectly legal and safe.”
