An accountant at a New York ad firm leaped to his death because he was hallucinating that the mannequins at his Manhattan office were chasing him, it was claimed today. David Caquais, 43, opened at window at Catch NY on the fourth floor of a building in Manhattan's Garment District and jumped out about 9pm on January 2. The New York Post reports that Mr Caquais screamed 'They're after me! They're after me!' as he ran around his office and attempted to kick out windows.

Don’t feel defensive about it. It’s nothing personal; I tease everybody when I see an opportunity.

People should take their phones with them when they walk. They just shouldn’t use them unless they have an emergency to deal with.

I went to Walmart for some Half&Half for my coffee and thought I would get a couple of bottles of Pink Drink. HAH! It went up from $2.97 to $3.28. GAH!!!

IMPOSSIBLE!

Hoo, boy, you got that right. Especially if you're too challenged to walk and do phone at the same time.

I'm not saying I'm TOTALLY responsible for that tie-up on 1st Ave. I mean, somebody ELSE left that manhole cover open. Let's just say if word gets out I was involved I may be asked to move.

But it was epic, I'll say that much. And I got away with a bruised shin.

Stupid phone!

“Sir, we have a problem.”

“What is it now, Dusty?”

“It’s Glick, Sir. He’s set himself a new problem to try to solve.”

“Dusty, how many times do I have to tell you...”

“Sir, if he gets far enough in this one he’s likely to hit a divide-by-zero error.”

There was a moment of silence while that sunk in.

“Dusty, what happens if Glick hits a divide-by-zero error?”

“That’s undefined, Sir.”

“Don’t get cute with me, Dusty.”

“I’m not trying to, Sir. There hasn’t been any code in Glick that was written by a human being for over 100 years. I’ve got some analysts trying to figure out if there is still a Div/0 trap but they say it’s almost impossible to figure out what’s going on.”

“What, exactly, is this problem he’s set for himself?”

“He’s trying to figure out what event triggered the Big Bang, Sir. We believe he’ll reach a point where the actual set of triggering events is empty but the outcome is still one and evaluating the probability that it can occur will trip the Div/0.”

“Well, have you talked to him?”

“Yes, Sir. He’s convinced he’ll determine an actual event that can occur before he hits that point. He says it’s not possible that the event was triggered by nothing.”

“Dusty, have you been discussing Theology with him again?”

“Not me, Sir. Not since the last time. I’ve learned my lesson.”

“OK, how long do you figure we’ve got.”

“Glick thinks he’ll be there in 30 minutes.”

“And what’s the worst case scenario?”

“Sir, Glick invented the Quantum Web. If he’s not up to run it, then we’re back to the speed of light. He won’t be able to perform Galactic Control. We won’t even have rudimentary communications. No human being understands the tunneling he uses in his network. We don’t have any hope we’ll be able to figure out how to keep it up if he shuts down.”

“And...?”

“Sir, Glick moved himself into the QW half a century ago. If we don’t have a QA we won’t have any way to bring him back up.”

It’s good to know it doesn’t happen just in America.

I priced the backup alarms, and I can get one for $8 at Amazon. It would cost more than that if I bought it in the store here.

They are fairly simple to install, I understand, so I can do it myself.

They all look so cute, even the blue-eyed scary self!

This is the third day on BP meds, and I’m having some scary symptoms. My BP was 174 for a low to 214 during the day, yesterday. This morning, it was 166/109.

I’m going to email the doctor’s office and let her know. I suspect I will be put on another kind, which, no doubt will do the same thing.

So I’m going to check my books and find some foods that will lower my BP.

... find some foods that will lower my BP.

That seems like about the only option, if the meds don't work. Also, you should rest quietly and listen to Sparkle purring.

” I won’t do taxes for people I don’t know well.”

I don’t blame you there. If you don’t know them well, they may not give you the proper “kickback” for fudging it.
