Bill Maher stunned his liberal-friendly audience on Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday night with his most recent comments on the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack, demonizing religious extremists and religion in general, true to form for the outspoken and controversial comedian and host of Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO.

Maher was on Jimmy Kimmel Live the night of the attacks in Paris that killed 12, and he had plenty to say about liberalism, freedom of speech, and religion, particularly the Muslim religion, which he has come out against in the past, drawing the ire of his fellow liberals and accusations of intolerance. ...

“All Religions Are Stupid and Dangerous”

None more so than Maher’s humanistic self-worship.

the non believers would start talking about what hypocrites we Christians are and how self centered we are. most liberals it is all about what I can get rather then what I can give back and if you stop giving to them obviously you are evil.

...with the exception of late 20th century abortion clinic bombings...

I know these events are featured prominently on the 'Law and Disorder' episodes (and their like) to make them appear like every day occurrences -- but really, how many were they? I know any occurrence is bad, and certainly assassination of the abortionists is against God's Word that vengeance belongs to Him -- but I can understand how someone could rationalize going after organizations that are directly for murdering 1 million babies in America year. They forget God's admonishment to let Him take care of the vengeance - but I can understand it.

Although Communism is one of the most well-known cases of atheism’s ties to mass murder, the French Revolution and subsequent Reign of Terror, inspired by the works of Diderot, Voltaire, Sade, and Rousseau (ATHEISTS ALL), managed to commit similar persecutions and exterminations of religious people and promote secularism and militant atheism.

Official numbers indicate that 300,000 Frenchmen died during Robespierre’s Reign of Terror, 297,000 of which were of middle-class or low-class.

Of the amount murdered via the guillotine, only 8% had been of the aristocratic class, with over 30% being from the peasant class.

Bill Maher of course ignores that... or is he ignorant of it?

Or that there is something about Christianity that makes their ideology always bump up against it. They don’t have to believe it for it to be a particularly painful thorn in the side of their world view. Take away any and all supernatural elements of Christian morality, and it still holds up as a pretty impressive system around which to build a civilization. The Left hates it for its success.

If Bill including the religion of Global Warming? What about the Religion of Aborting Babies? How about the Religion that is “Progressiveism” or “Liberalism”?

See in Mahr’s opinion, Religion is stupid because there is no factual and/or tangible basis of the faith in an ideology. Liberalism, Global Warming, etc. fit that definition. But I doubt he knows that.

So do you believe that Hinduism, and/or Judaism and/or Islam (among many others) are “faiths” as well?

I believe this term (”faiths”) applies to many others, and not just Christianity.

The one caveat that I would apply to your statement is that India is also a Democracy/Representative Republic, and yet this country is predominantly Hindu.

“All Religions Are Stupid and Dangerous”

In the case of "man-made" religions, he's right.

I am no atheist, I am a believer in Jesus Christ.

However, I do not generally support religion. It seems to me that religion serves purposes other than nurturing the relationship between man and his creator.

I have had trouble with religion, and specifically priests, in my life, and that has caused me to arrive where I am on religion these days, but I do believe that religion and church plays a very important role in the lives of young people as it relates to the moral foundation that a person needs. Society also needs people to have that moral foundation as evidenced by our crumbling society.

I can’t agree with Maher on this, religion has a critical purpose, but sadly, at the same time, people are insane, and religion has become corrupt in a number of very troubling ways.

In the zeal to condemn Atheism, some begin with the fallacy that Atheism is a religion. Atheism is the lack of religion.

There are Atheists who support Capitalism, the free market, the right to believe in whatever religion people choose, that America is exceptional, that the national debt is an abomination and that American needs to have secure borders and a strong defense.

Stop painting with a broad brush.

Why Judaism and Christianity but not the others?

If we say that Judaism and Christianity are faiths, but others aren’t, then the adherents of other faiths can say the same about Christianity and Judaism - that they aren’t truly “faiths” but what they believe is a “faith.”
