New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof warns "we have to be very, very careful not to engage in religious profiling and to recognize that one can't blame 1.6 billion adherents of this vast and complex religion."
"One can't blame this event on all of them. One has to acknowledge that the Taliban folks who is shot Malala [Yousafzai] are one element of Islam and Malala herself is another. And this is a religion that contains multitudes," Kristof said Thursday afternoon on CNN.
Kristof also warned of society's tendacy to "otherize" people.
"I think we have a tendency to otherize people, if you will, of a different race, a different religion, a different ethnicity and then to perceive events into a narrative of threat and this is a very natural human thing," Kristol said. "And I must say when I travel around the Mideast, I sit down in mosques and hear clerics concoct these extraordinary sort of paranoid visions of America because every data point that they get plugs into this stereotype that they have and they otherize us. I think we really, really have to be careful not to respond to the extraordinary intolerance of these jihadis with our own intolerance."

We should respond with the same level of intolerance that we showed towards Japan after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
I’m coming to the conclusion that “intolerance” is not such a bad word. I’m intolerant of Muslims killing people just because they aren’t Muslim. Actually, maybe some targeted intolerance would tell them that there is a price to pay. We need to make that price high enough that they won’t pay it anymore. In the meantime, stop supporting news organizations that are blatantly pro-Muslim and anti-civilization.

Too late. This has been going on for years and years. I haven’t seen a large movement of Muslims working to stop the jihad jackazzes, mostly crickets...well, they do start squealing like a pig about fear of retaliation. Same dang story different day, nothing changes. So tough it, ninnies.

The problem with Islam is that it is Islam, and, if anything, the West isn’t guilty of intolerance when it comes to Islam. The West is guilty of blind tolerance, and importing a deadly culture. Nothing good can come of it.
Why is the West obsessed with importing Islam, when Islam can stay home? It’s not about good people, or bad people, or whether or not there are Muslims who won’t hurt us. It is about whether or not the West needs Muslims when the consequences of Islam are the price we have to pay. We wouldn’t have the wholesale importation of Nazis, or Satanists, neither of which compare to the destructive force of Islam.
Fair enough Kristof, but at this late date, and with so many dead, can we finally agree that while muslims are peaceful, Islam is not, never has, and never will be?
I believe there are peaceful Muslims. There were peaceful Nazis too. Patton drove them out of their homes, lined them up, and marched every one of them through Auschwitz and Birkenau. They were as responsible for it as the guys operating ‘the showers’.
