The GOP Embraces its Suck (brilliant article from beginning to end!)
conservativereview.com ^ | 1/7/15 | Steve Deace

In human relationships it’s referred to as the “nine stages of grief.” In politics, it’s referred to as the five stages of suckitude.

Stage 1: Do the right thing when it’s easy and doesn’t count, so then when you don’t have the courage to do it later when it does count, you can claim you still did.

Stage 2: Go silent right before you’re about turn on your base and break your word to pretend as if you’re really agonizing over your sellout. See, if you’re really agonizing over something you’ll listen to voices of differing perspectives on the matter. But once your inner circle becomes your own echo chamber, you’re no longer agonizing

Stage 3: After the sellout you pretended to agonize over, do not do media interviews or constituent appearances that might force you to have to defend the indefensible for at least several days. Thus, giving the system time to contrive another faux controversy to feed the idiocracy.

Stage 4: Instead, put out a statement claiming that “it was a tough call,” and “there were no real good choices here.” You’re the highly-paid victim who can vote himself a pay raise and a subsidized pension after all.

Stage 5: When stages 1-4 fail, attach a legislative fig leaf to cover your shameful nakedness, which appeases the huddled masses your consultants convinced you are really stupid (sometimes these people are more respectfully referred to as “constituents”). Otherwise known as some uber-principled piece of legislation that you know has no chance of going anywhere, but allows your sycophants to deride those you betrayed and lied to as “purists” and “troublemakers” for being offended at your offense.

"Do you think conservatives might have “viable” candidates for positions like House Speaker if we were actually invited to work our way up through the ranks for a change, instead of shut off from a seat at the table? You know, like a healthy political party might do, and not a crony capitalist racket?"

Nails it!! For Boehner has created a nice little moderate chain of command.

Well, conservatives will rise anyway!

Primary Boehner in 2016. Cantor is gone, why not Boehner next?

Please, pray tell, what exactly could John Boehner do that might cause you to not support his sorry example of “leadership?” Remove key conservatives from committees—check. Betray conservatives on the House floor—check. Mock conservatives publicly—check. Betray the promise made to the American people not to pass massive spending bills nobody has read—check. Fund every last cent of Obama’s most heinous policies a majority of Americans oppose—check. Have I missed anything? I think the last time someone in western government had this much tolerance for being road-kill they were named Neville Chamberlain.

Just keep in mind that many of these liars ran on repealing Obamacare. Now you hear nothing about that because after all, they will all have a Cadillac plan and are exempt from the Obamacare disaster.

When people start dying because they aren’t going to the doctor because they can’t afford their $12000 deductible, they will insist they have no culpability.

The GOP is nothing but a deviant group of liars.

THEY imposed RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE and claimed they did not,
.... but they made certain they remained EXEMPT.

THEY campaigned on defending America but in their first
defining move .... supported Obama/Boehner.

The GOP is truly the (We)Give.Obama.Power Party.

I’d be willing to bet there is a substantial amount of pork for his home district in that Cromnibus bill he rammed through.

Indeed!

That is a nice article.

Most of our now unmasked RINO congress-critters should get a copy of it with some snide comments or questions as to:

- where they stand on the article?
- which of their colleagues does it apply to?
- etc.

They will either do exactly what the article predicts they will do (by sending flowery meaningless words back to you) or they will implicate others when they actually just did the same thing they are pointing to.

The democrat we previously had in this conservative district was permitted by his handlers to vote for Orthodox Americanism to placate his base MORE often on issues like this that were set up to lose than does the republican-only-when-the-chips-are-not-REALLY-down critter we replaced the d’crat with.

Suck-age.

Right. But we’re already at the point of no return on this stuff.

The damage is done and it’s irreversible.

Under House rules, speakers are limited to six years, so he’s probably going to retire anyway. So he gets to screw us as much as possible before he goes.

What they’re pissed about is that we removed Cantor, their speaker-to-be, and after Tuesday, McCarthy WILL NOT be acceptable, and Scalise is done.

A conservative speaker will be next, as moderate a conservative as they can find.

Campaign promises are like used Pampers - uselss and full of crap. Politicians are by their very nature, liars. Recently, they have added thief and pervert to their resume.

IF you bother to vote next time (an increasingly futile gesture), remember that the person(s) on the ballot have spent millions to get a $176K job.

SECOND PARTY NOW. WHIGS ARE USELESS.

I was also thinking of Marshall Foch (Vichy France)...

The Republicans lost their spine and reproductive organs before the turn of the century. 1988 would be the latest date any evidence of their existence can be found in the fossilized records.

The vote for Boehner as Speaker proves that they have lost their mind and are now functioning without a brain.

Massive amounts of crony kleptocratic and oligarchic (their is nothing “capitalist” about it) money is all that is keeping the feeble heartbeat and respiration of the Republicans going.

The Fed does not even bother to print the money anymore, they just keep typing more 1s and 0s into their computers.

Change comes when the “almighty dollar” is suddenly revalued as being worth less than used toilet paper.

It will happen, the only question is when?

National survival would require a commitment of the majority of voters to reduce total government spending at all levels, federal, state, and local, to less than 20% (ideally, 10%) of GDP for the next several centuries.

It’s all about the spending; not revenues, taxes, party affiliation, or political persuasion.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of people, including the voters, involved in the current political process, have too much of a vested interest in trying to prop up the current uber-Ponzi scheme that is contemporary American politics. About half of them have the intellectual integrity to call themselves “Democrats.” The delusional ones label themselves as “Republicans.”

When people start dying because they aren’t going to the doctor because they can’t afford their $12000 deductible

When this happens, most of the American people will blame the "greedy" hospitals, not the government policy. The American people cannot discern much of anything.

I don’t see conservatives rising at all if they couldn’t stop Graham, the two McCs, Boehner, Cochran, Cornball, so many merely wearing “R” labels.

“I don’t see conservatives rising at all if they couldn’t stop Graham, the two McCs, Boehner, Cochran, Cornball, so many merely wearing “R” labels.”

The Establishment basically emptied its bank accounts to preserve their power. When unknowns force well-funded, multiple-term incumbents to get 55%, 50%, 48% and 47% of the vote, they know they’re in trouble.

This is a long battle!
