GOP Tensions Escalate After Speaker Vote
The National Journal ^ | January 7, 2015 | DANIEL NEWHAUSER

Posted on 01/08/2015 3:27:46 AM PST by Timber Rattler

ank-and-file Republicans are fuming at what they see as the heavy-handed tactics of Republican leaders, one day after a divisive vote that narrowly handed Speaker John Boehner the gavel for another term.

Members who opposed Boehner on the floor are frustrated that two rebels have already been stripped of committee assignments, while the speaker's allies, angered by an embarrassingly close vote that played out on national television, warn darkly of more punishment to come. And some conservatives who backed Boehner complain that they are now facing a different kind of retribution—from the Right.

(snip)

Retribution is not being enacted simply against those who participated in the attempted coup, and members are using that fact in a plea for leniency for their colleagues. Members who have often butted heads with the speaker but who voted for him on Tuesday said leadership should understand they are facing consequences from the Right for supporting Boehner in the face of an onslaught of people demanding they depose him.

Rep. Raul Labrador rose in front of his colleagues at Wednesday's Conference meeting and said he has already drawn a primary challenge over his vote for Boehner. Labrador read from his smartphone from the more than 4,000 comments people had posted on his Facebook page, including one calling him a "scumbag asshole" for supporting Boehner—and joked that it's all true. Conservative talk-radio host Mark Levin had specifically directed listeners to target Labrador for his vote, he noted.

Other members spent Wednesday afternoon defending their vote for Boehner to local press, and some said that after December's omnibus vote and Tuesday's display on the House floor, they have never been under more pressure from constituents.

How about we only send our money to the Conservative of our choice.
I'm backing Cruz and started sending funds a few months ago. A conservative
message that needs to be out in force, and Cruz has the MSM attention.
Everybody has Conservative ideals and those Leaders need to use their
bully pulpit to get our message out loud and clear.

I can’t believe so many GOP Party Apologist are so naive as to the parties tainted origin. It has been an “Owned” party as in cash for results ever since the days of Lincoln. Why JP Morgan {the man himself}, Carnegie, and John Rockefeller {founder of Standard Oil} even bought themselves an election literally a POTUS till an assassination messed up their playhouse.

Hey Max2, is there anything the GOP could do that would bring you to the point of dumping the GOP? Anything at all?

If not, you are a slave. If yes, some people's point has already been reached and it's a disagreement over standards.

But for your to call people traitors for disagreeing on timing with you, is no different than the liberals calling people racists.

Basically, it sounds like your the one, who doesn't have the temperament to be a conservative. So, clean up your act.

I believe that every single one of those elected so-called Representatives, that voted FOR that corrupt, over-tanned, cigar store Injun Boehner, SHOULD BE RECALLED!!!

That includes the mangy mutt brand new guy from my district in Louisiana.

Are you completely unfazed by Boehner’s reelection? How does that fit in with your “taking back the GOP” theory?

Were they really conservatives?

A majority are corporate Ho's.

In anything but a corporate since of the word? No they weren't Conservative. GOP-E is Corporate GOP owned and dictated by large money donors. It has been such since it's founding. The so called great Honest Abe himself was a puppet put in place for that agenda. It continued later during the industrial revolution when JP Morgan {the man himself} gained monetary control over our government. If the U.S. government needed money it didn't raise it. Rather it borrowed it from Morgan himself. Alas our fate we live under today. Same party same policies same tyranny with a faux name of Conservatism. Sad part is you never hear the word "Constitutional" used before it.

Defeatism? I call it realism. You are hermetically sealed and a slave to a political party. Everyone here sees that. Takes this as a call for you to reflect on what’s going on and what the situation is.

The voters have had it with these criminals.

The CROMNIBUS vote before Christmas sealed it.

What the hell do they expect.

What that vote showed us was that the GOPe was complicit in making sure that the election results were neutered.

They’re attempting to seal up the ballot box of liberty.

Is it time yet Claire? It’s starting to feel a little more than “awkward” right now.

These guys are way out of touch with reality. Every idiot who supported Boehner should face a primary challenge.

I put my newly elected Lieing fraudster on notice on Monday that his Primary for 16 started right after he voted for Dysfunctional Erectile. I Urge EVERYONE that lives in a District tha has a Represnetative that voted for Boner to inform their Turncoat RINO quisling that they will be challenged in a Primary in 16 and WE WILL be EVERYWHERE they are between now and then INFORMING the voters the treachery they took place in.

Conservative better get used to defeatism till we man up and accept our own responsibility in this mess.

Conservatives are never going to win until we grow the hell up, accept that we are never going to get everything we want and stop putting good people on the enemies list for the slightest offense.

We don’t all agree among ourselves and have no realistic reason to believe any politician will come along and manage to agree with us.

The GOPe is a perfect example today of a political party totally tone deaf to the will of their constituents. They don’t even try to hide it anymore.

Millions of corporate lobbyist dollars will do that.

They are completely living up to the stereotype the left has accused them of for over half a century. Being in the pocket of big business. Today it’s so blatant, they are even screwing their own constituents over it.

The only thing keeping them off life support is conservatives constantly saving their bacon.

Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, a close Boehner ally.

Hmm isn't he one of the Cowards that was on the Committee that Rep. Rogers white washed the Benghazi report so Chairman Rogers could retire and go work for the Scum that was involved in smuggling weapons thru Libya to Syria? Yeah I thought so. So I should listen to another bought and paid for power drunk weasel? Nah I think I'll pass. Perhaps Mr. Nunes needs a nice Primary Challanger. One that actually wants to Represent the district and not his own ego.

“Conservatives are never going to win until we grow the hell up, accept that we are never going to get everything we want and stop putting good people on the enemies list for the slightest offense.”

I agree to a point. The problem is today that we get virtually nothing we want from these criminal clowns. They stand for nothing except what the big money wants. Time and time again we put them in office only to be crapped on. A party that has nothing but contempt for us because we dare to challenge their so-called agenda and voice our opinions. We are then threatened and called knuckleheads and treated worse than the opposition. The CROMNIBUS is the latest example.

We can go “inside baseball” on this all day with each other but the larger story is of a political party that has totally sold out to corporate interests time and time again to the detriment of their constituents.

They are the party of “Can’t” unless a big check is attached to it.

Isn't that exactly what the republican party has done to conservatives?

I also don't consider voting for Boehner a slight offense. Boehner won't even go after the IRS for abusing the power they have and targeting and abusing citizens. Why? Because the IRS abused the people the republicans wanted destroyed. If that makes me childish, fine--I'm childish.
