John Boehner’s allies have thirsted for the speaker to strike back at those who betray him. He’s been walked all over for too long, they say, and he’s too nice to people who are eager to stab him in the back.

He finally has learned the lesson.

After he secured his third term as speaker Tuesday afternoon, losing 25 votes on the House floor to some relative-unknown members of the House Republican Conference, Boehner moved swiftly to boot Florida Reps. Daniel Webster and Rich Nugent from the influential Rules Committee.

The reason was simple: Webster ran against Boehner for speaker, distributing fliers outlining his candidacy and talking about how he would better adhere to the House rules than the Ohio Republican. Nugent supported his fellow Floridian in the quixotic endeavor, which garnered the support of 12 lawmakers. Webster didn’t even give Boehner a heads-up that he was running, although leadership was aware early Tuesday morning that it could happen.

Well, we could resign en masse from the republican party. Go to your registrar of voters, register as independent or third party of your choice, and then let your rep, your state party leaders, and the RNC know what you have done. And make it clear that you will NOT vote for GOP next election if Boehner and McConnell do not resign. But you have to mean it!

It sure would be nice if there was no such thing as a “plum committee post.” That would go a long ways toward reducing all of the corruption in D.C.

Exactly. Not sure who is calling the shots in the GOP, but they need to be fired ASAP. The GOP will need as many votes as they can muster in 2016 (most likely), yet they are determined to have a war with the people in the party that would be the most likely to support the party as long as it more or less sticks to its supposed agenda. Instead, they see a Tea Partier behind every rock and are determined to crush them while they slap someone on the back (Obama) that hates them and will do whatever he can to make this country miserable.

Obviously, the GOP is not what we would like it to be, and probably never will be.

Find out what “they” have on Boehner and expose it.

And the difference is?...

...they're both shows and we're the spectators of thier scandals, they're wealth, their positions... and WE PAY THEM to entertain us!

And then WE PAY THEM to entertain each other at the Whitehouse

Then they all buy extravagant villas and homes to retire in that WE paid for!!!!

Obama's NEW Home when he leaves WAshington

“Boehner has skeletons in his closet.”

Yes. We need to find these skeletons and release them asap.

The problem is that this vote is public;

And Republicans have fought to keep a secret ballot for union votes, but they sure want a public vote for their leadership positions so they can use all the threats and thug tactics and punishments at their disposal. Pathtetic thugs and hypocrites.

These should not be public votes because there is no way the results reflect the true will of those voting.

You stated it much more clearly than I did.

I don’t think you or many people here actually get it. You guys are proving the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Next time we’ll vote out those guys and vote our guy in... is how many here think.

Newsflash, voting won’t work, it’s broken beyond repair, figure out a different way to fix things.

Boehner is an Obama sycophant and right now, with exception of a few, the GOP is no better than the Dems. We keep chasing our tails like a dog and looking like fools.

What would happen if Boehner was censured by his party and given a ‘no confidence’ open vote like this one was.

Would he have to resign as speaker at that point?

The more I see the way the GOPe operates the more disgusted I get. Conservatives need their own party because the GOPe isn’t it.

The only other way to do it would be to take the Republican party back one rep and senator at a time.

Damn; this is frustrating.

Here’s what Pete Sessions thinks about it. Shows how many are in cahoots with the elites. If I don’t have a third party to vote for, I won’t vote.

Here’s Sessions take: “Sometimes there are casualties and changes, and people make decisions,” said Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions, a Texas Republican. “They make decisions to do things knowing sometimes there can be consequences.”

While he praised Webster and Nugent for their service on the panel, Sessions said membership on the leadership-driven committee requires loyalty to the Republican conference.

GOTV for his D challenger next cycle. Better to face an enemy than to have a friend behind you holding a knife.
