TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. (KMOX) Concerned residents of Town and Country have planned a candlelight vigil for deer that have been killed in the St. Louis suburb.
The city hired sharp shooters to kill urban deer, and organizers say after Town and Country spent thousands of dollars of public monies to kill deer over the last several years, deer-and-car collisions remain about the same.

The vigil is in order because they've got some tough deer there ... they don't go down without a hell of a fight.

I’d think a venison cookout would be far more appropriate and far more fun. Venison is yummy.

I’m okay with deer planning vigils as long as they keep it orderly and don’t go trampling people’s rights.

Having dealt with some of the out-of-state hunters while I lived in Maine, I can see why they'd not want to open such a thing to the public. Last thing that I need is some clown from the suburbs of Boston in my backyard looking for the horns on my dog, and trying to figure out where to tag Fido.
But 100 Deer, for $46,000? What was being used for ammo? Seems to me that you could put a couple of bowhunters to work for a month or two, take care of well over 100 deer, and donate the deermeat to a local food pantry. Problem solved.
But then, I'm not a liberal.

“Billy-Bob” is not pigmented for AgencyPerson approval in this Regime.
Further, “Billy-Bob” can cull the deer herd for free, and might even pay a small fee per deer. However, income means nothing compared to growing one’s agency, hence “authorized Bambi-Blasters”.

Concerned residents of Town and Country have planned a candlelight vigil for deer that have been killed in the St. Louis suburb.I wonder if the "concerned" residents hold candlelight vigils for aborted babies? Or are deer, chickens, rabbits, etc. more important to those with disordered minds?

Town and Country has the highest median household income ($134,387 in 2009) of any city in Missouri with population over 10,000 and also has one of the highest median incomes of any city in the United States.
The deer population reached unprecedented levels in the 1990s, leading to a city-sponsored program from 1999-2002 that moved deer to rural areas. The Missouri Department of Conservation stopped the program when it found most of the deer were dying from "capture myopathy" due to stress that caused major organs to shut down.
A deer control program of sterilization and sharpshooting was subsequently deemed more humane and effective and approved in 2008.
The deer population continued to grow and the program was switched to sharpshooting only in 2011-2012.
