Running Total of Republicans that will Not Vote for Boehner for Speaker
January 5, 2015 | Self

Posted on 01/05/2015 6:03:27 AM PST by Seattle Conservative

LibFreeUSA suggested this on the thread linked below, but didn't see one in my search.

Starting a thread to keep a running total of those Republicans that have publically stated that they will not vote for Boehner for Speaker.

I hear many more members are working on statements to oppose Boehner as we speak...[and Stutzman]

Email your Rep this link to John Boehner's Facebook page. Invite them to read the comments there and then ask if they intend to hitch their political wagon to someone so hated.

I heard Jamie Dupree say this morning that Jody Hice will also vote against Boehner. No confirmation yet.

Just made my call to mine - Phil Roe TN-1. No commitment from his staffer. The First Congressional has sent only Republicans since Reconstruction and recent years with +70% votes. But, Roe went wrong on the Cromnibus. And he went on a local talk station to defend his vote based on what he thought he got that he wanted.

If he goes wrong on this, he’s likely going to get primaried in ‘16 (and I have a bad feeling that he is going to go wrong.) Hope he proves ME wrong.

btw, staffer said I was the only call he had received this morning.

They need what, 29 votes to block Boehner’s election? They have seven or eight and the vote is tomorrow. I hope that they haven’t started too late.

Marlin Stutzman (R-IN) brings the total number of members who are public in their opposition to nine. The other 8 are: Bridenstine and Reps. Steve King (R-IA), Dave Brat (R-VA), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Walter Jones (R-NC), and Thomas Massie (R-KY) issued public statements saying they are opposing Boehner. Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Ted Yoho (R-FL). These have all publicly declared. Guess how many are flying under the radar; just waiting to vote tomorrow.

Massie is opposed to Boehner and has endorsed Yoho. Massie has not made himself available.

Thanks for the reminder. I was going to do that but have had internet issues this a.m. (some severe wind and rain here earlier).

Find your Rep:
http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/

Keep the pressure on - call and email your Reps. I would think that the Freshman members don’t hold any allegiance to Boehner and many were Tea Party members - I suspect they could be persuaded.

Also, here’s a link to the Gohmert for Speaker site (I’ve heard that the traffic has been “through the roof” on this):

Actually, I think they need 30 of the 247 Pubbies in The House to prevent Boner from getting 218 votes on the first ballot.

Please post house phone number on this thread

OK hoosiermama, next time you refer to The House of Representatives, please capitalize the word “House”. I could not understand why you were asking Seattle Conservative for his house phone number. LOL...... Hey, I’ve only had one pot of coffee so far today so cut me some slack.

Yes, it’s my understanding that they need 29. However, it’s my understanding, reading various posts on FR, that depends upon the total number voting, and based on the 218 majority needed (out of 434 with Grimm’s resignation). The majority number needed could change if some vote present or abstain. There’s also been discussion of Dims crossing over and voting for him instead of Pelosi, but many think that won’t happen.

Calling my Rep now.

We need to light up the phones. Less than 20% of voters want Speaker Boehner. It is time to rise up and throw that drunk slob out!
