I wonder if the ASMR crowd has seen this; it’s right up their alley...

I sent my daily-wear Rolex to New York for a crystal replacement and cleaning a few years ago. It was about $1200 for the complete service.

Truly amazed by this guy, his precision unbelievable!!!

I've done some very "tight" electronic repair work on circuit boards using a $3000 Pace wide angle binocular microscope, I couldn't hold a candle to this guy who was using just a jewelers loop.

Amazing manual dexterity!
Couldn't picture working bent over all day like that either, considering the short focal length of his jewelers loop.

You have a ‘Sunday-go-to-meetin’ one, too? :-)

Amazing. So many parts. So many steps to remember in order.

Wow, about twice what I was thinking. Might just soldier on with the scratched crystal, lol.

Wonder what a decent job on an OEM crystal replacement and cleaning/refurbishment would cost?

Contact Rolex, they might just do it for free.........

They won’t. However, you could get an aftermarket crystal for $200 or so.

Whoa ;-)

I like watches. I’ve been trying to find a retro-style lady’s watch that back in the day would have been called a “cocktail” watch - tiny case with just a velvet string for a strap. They don’t make them like that, now.

We used to have a watch repairman in the town where I grew up, but I wouldn’t even know where to find one today, for an old watch like that; and they probably only cater to collectors.

The watch repairman’s shop was fun to visit, when we were kids.

I could take that apart, clean it,re-assemble it,have it working fine and still have enough parts left over to make two alarm clocks,a television, washing machine and a wind-up gramophone!!!

I've never owned a Rolex, but I've always admired them. I feel the same way about my neighbor's Miata; beautiful car, but I'm glad it's not mine.

The cost of ownership seems crazy to me. On the other hand, you Rolex wearers have a good idea of what it costs for me to maintain a couple of Leicas and a bunch of lenses.

For less money I could have a serious drug problem or a mistress.

Wow! My idea of watch repair is ordering a new $13 Casio from Amazon and chucking the old one out. Ten+ years on this one and still going strong.

I have a couple of old Omegas. Need to get them cleaned up and back on my wrist. They always attract attention.

That sounds like my idea of economy.

Of course, these days, I don’t even see the point of wearing any watch, cheap or expensive. I’ve got an always perfectly accurate timepiece on the front of my phone, which is always on my person during waking hours.
