Don’t you know that a locked up gun is nothing more than a crowbar?
FOR GODS SAKE.
i’m looking at the Constitution for the exact conditions our ‘background checks’ must reach in order to obtain the Rights bestowed upon us by our Creator
i guess our ‘Rights’ are kept in a ‘personal lock box’, safeguarded by our ‘betters’, until such time as they deem us worthy of having them
Good luck with that in Maine, too.
This is second amendment country, firearms are hugely popular and openly advertised here, and our Governor, Paul LePage, is a TEA Party conservative who frequently attends gun rights rallies.
My local fire department is having a raffle called “A Gun a Day in May.” Thirty-one brand new firearms will be raffled off in May, one every day. They had this raffle last year, too.
The Bloomturds can get lost.
I advocate for a mandatory sale of a keyboardlock with any computing device bought.
YOU SUCK! LOL
I have a pile of those locks, I had to even get one when I purchased a stripped AR lower!!!!
Do you own stock in the manufacturers???
I’ve got enough now I could just put them in a pillow slip and beat an intruder to death with them...
BTTT
I see you are a deep thinker! That idea brought a smile to my face.
I still hold the view that a person who buys a gun/weapon should also buy a gunlock. Whether they use it or not is their own decision.
I had young children in the house when I had a loaded weapon so I didn’t want them “discovering” it and possibly finding the key.
I did have a problem once where I needed the gun to detain a perp but I couldn’t find the key. Rearranged the place I kept it but my kids are ground up now.
Daughter has a CCP and can outshoot most men. Worked at a shooting range and gun supply store.
My son is a combat qualified sharpshooter. He took out Fedayeen at between 50-1000 yards. Can you do that? Also a policeman/anti-terrorism unit.
I can still shoot the balls off a flea despite glasses. Even “carried” an AR-15 in Cambodia (long, funny story, for later).
“Safety” is a method of ensuring “responsible” gun handling. It’s up to the individual as to whether they want to put a gunlock on a weapon when they have small children.
The 2 year old who accidentally shot and killed his mother the other day (loaded gun, safety apparently not on) in a Walmart or Target would have wished his mother had followed basic rules of gun safety.
One of the anti-gun Leftist Lobby goals is to blame household accidents for all the world’s troubles which could be solved by banning weapons esp. guns in the house.
By advocating for a gunlock with each weapon, we would undercut this argument and deal them a real setback. I’m talking about a $10-15 item. Even the NRA endorses gunlocks as part of their safety program. It says so in their magazine which is sitting on my chair.
Cars come with seat belts and their use is mandatory, subject to a fine if not used. They save lives when used. The question is whether those in the back seat need to use them on a mandatory basis but they are there for use if desired.
My father bought some WW II surplus belts, probably waist-gunner belts, and had them bolted to the floor of our 1957 Chevy and 1958 Pontiacs, thus creating some of the first seat belts around, possibly even in an earlier car.
My father did this because I once hit my head on and cracked a window due to a car accident. I don’t really remember it but he certainly did and didn’t want it to happen again.
Sometimes we have to put our uber-ardent feelings on hold and use a reality check in order to protect ourselves and to disarm our enemies’ positions.
To be accurate, and to show your awareness of their tactics you should have written:
By advocating for a gunlock with each weapon, we would undercut this argument have conceded that their underlying argument of guns needing to be locked up and rendered unusable in an emergency is a valid argument, and deal them a real setback thus allowing the argument to be moved forward to not needing a gun in the house at all.
From your post up thread:I wrote a major column in the early 1980s about gun safety................... I advocated for a mandatory sale of a gunlock with any weapon bought.
Which did you write “mandatory”, or as you have now retreated to in post 32, “advocating”?
I still am in favor of a mandatory gun lock to be sold with each weapon but I am mainly concerned with hand guns. Rifles and shotguns could be a different issue re safety. If anyone wants to comment on this re a “difference”, please do so. It would add to this discussion.
A friend of mine lost his son to a rifle shot fired by one of the son’s friends who thought it was unloaded. That kind of loss was horrible and will never end for the family or the shooter.
My use of the word “advocating” basically meant that I’m still promoting the idea of a mandatory gunlock with each weapon. Better safe than sorry.
The “law” mandates. I advocate in favor of that kind of law.
However, this does raise a question of whether a gun collection in a secured gun vault needs an individual gunlock on them if they are secured by a long bolt thru the trigger housing.
I was mainly focusing on handguns since most gun accidents around the home are the result of handgun misuse or abuse. I’m also focusing on child safety as in there is a child/children in the house who need to be protected from accidents.
So a mandatory gun lock law will stop the Lefts grab for our guns.
Huh.
Wonder why no one else thought of that?
