A lot of the people in the NE have never traveled outside their own state and think the rest of the country engages in the same sort of repression.
NYC residents in particular are fed a steady diet of horsecrap about how “tough” they are and how the hicks in the rest of the country don’t have what it takes to live in the “Big Apple”.

I have a Mother in Law from MA who thinks New England, mainly Boston is the world and that we are all like them.
She is fed her daily crap of the local channels and the likes of the Today show, Ellen, and other shows like it.
She thinks if we do things differently then it’s wrong and of course just goes along with the usual talking points of the left, but when I question her on if illegals should get welfare, if underage age sex is alright or even if drugs should be legal.
She then goes against the liberal party line but still votes Dem while telling everyone what a committed Catholic she is
