I thought that grasslands absorbed more CO2 than forested lands.

I think I learned something similar to this in grade school: plants breathe carbon dioxide/exhale oxygen and creatures do the opposite.

Maybe we should start a counteroffensive. Each time they harp about coal, petroleum and other C02 emissions and needed regulations and controls, accuse them of “wanting to destroy the rain forests.” They want to kill off the umbugu tribes, the rainforest creatures and all the flora and fauna from which we get such great benefit. :0)

Welcome to the progressive dark ages. We will need some Irish priests to hide away on islands of sanity so that one day true knowledge can once again reemerge.
If this is the case, instead of spending billions propping up liberal after liberal failure, we should build desalination plants around the world and pipe the fresh water to the interiors to grow crops and other plant life.
What we should do is have one of our conservative allies in congress call for a bill to do this and them let Obama veto it. That would kill the environmental lobby and green whacko movement.

Water will not be a problem. Thawing it will. We have had freezing rain for two days in Texas. Will occur tomorrow also. That will be three days of off and on freezing rain. The Texas DOT is advising no travel. The future lies in the hands of monks in caves.
They’re surprised by the fact that the rain forests absorb large amounts of CO2, sure they are. These are the same people who were screaming about harvesting trees from the rain forests because we were destroying the world supply of oxygen, which was, as we all know, produced by the world supply of CO2. They were not surprised by anything, they are just changing the direction of their attacks on the world economy.
Grow faster than *expected*? Sounds like the experts were not as expert as they claim they are. But for sure every other aspect of the expert’s opinion on climate change is still correct.
Speaking of experts, in regards to their idea that humans are causing harmful changes to the climate at this very moment, I am waiting for some peer-reviewed papers that propose what the optimum climate is for our biosphere. The first question that would naturally flow would be where is our current climate and trend in relation to this finding.
Strangely, nobody seems interested in this vital comparison. Not so strangely, the solutions that are frequently demanded in the most urgent voice, all converge on a socialist worldview: statism, bigger government, higher taxes, less personal liberty, even fewer people. That bigger picture tells me all that I need to know about “climate science”.

A biologist pointed out the obvious. Plants need water, some soil nutrients, and CO2.
They absorb CO2 from the air through their skin pores, and if there is less CO2, they must widen their pores. But doing so allows more water to evaporate. Conversely, with more CO2, plants do not widen their pores, so they retain water.
Retaining water means they do not draw as much water out of the soil. So moister soil. And more plants can grow with that extra water. This can mean “de-desertification”, if there is enough CO2.
And over time, as plants die, their mulch retains moisture better than just dirt. As well as recycling nutrients.
A real boost comes with those plants that can fix nitrogen in the soil. They effectively fertilize other plants.
