What’s so strangely bizarre is that the same poster who posts the shallow, Heretical, me-first Osteen “devotionals” also posts the biblically sound, spiritually deep Oswald Chambers devotionals. (You could live for an entire week off of a single one.)
Nope. The kid osteen’s easily fooled and duped sheeple will chime in soon to let us all know how valuable those threads are in support of their fraud.
Chambers sometimes seems to err in the opposite direction, a false humility, a traducing of things that God in fact has intended to be good.
How about not trying to live off of any earthly author. That is guaranteed to be a pride game.
I wouldn’t say I was a fan of his, so I’m not saying this for any reason - I just don’t think this sounds like a big deal either. Seems like he doesn’t even take a big salary from the Church either - I think I read that
Good points, but I will not even begin the ridiculousness of trying to compare Osteen’s ramblings with Chambers’ eloquent utterances. Chambers is not beyond correction, but Osteen is no where within credibility.
I wonder how much goes to charity and how much goes to fund the necessary workings of the church and how much the top officers get paid.
“First rule of a breaking news.....Itll change in 48 hours.”
LOL. I got to say, though, the Enquirer does a really good job researching their stories—far better than the NYT or Wash Post.
I once represented a well-known actress who got an AWFUL, NASTY cover in the enquirer. She wanted to sue. They showed us the background research. We were hosed—no chance of winning. At least by accuracy and research standards, the Enquirer is a much better paper than the NYT.
But to my original point, unless there are bylaws or contracts that say Osteen can’t do that, there doesn’t sound like much of a legal scandal. And the folks who follow Osteen and the self-fulfillment, prosperity crap are pretty gullible. Don’t think he lose too many parishioners over this.
So the church owns his big mansions and stuff?
not my cup of tea as a church goes. mine has no members and meets in the pastors house but
I’ve heard him speak and he is eloquent. never heard a promotion for his books from the pulpit but then who cares. if you don’t like it go somewhere else. It’s a big church but no one seemed to be chained to their seats or extracted from their money at gunpoint.
the description fits most people in congress why not go after them.
Hes leveraging the church congress as a money-making vehicle! The church congress pays (to air) his sermons speaches, which are just de facto infomercials to promote his books stealing of other peoples money,

“So the church owns his big mansions and stuff?”
I don’t know. Why is it a legal problem if they do or don’t? Churches are entitled to set up their own arrangements with their pastors. Obviously, he’s the star so he sets the terms.
I find the whole money-mega church phenomenon offensive and non-Christian—pride, power and money seem to dominate. But really, Osteen has a long line of predecessors who fleeced their flocks. It’s a blot on Christianity when pastors promise things they have no authority to promise and make up their own theology.
But flocks who want the kind of hope that will get them fleeced usually manage to get fleeced. Folks who sent their social security checks to Jimmy Swaggert had no one but themselves to blame. That’s not the hope our Savior brought us.
But I don’t see why the government should be getting involved unless there’s theft or fraud or something other than being a charismatic fake, Christian whose really good at getting others to send him money.
hope springs eternal...
The gospel has never been preached by Osteen.
He says there are multiple ways to Yehova.
The gospel says that Yeshua is the only way.
.
So?
He takes no salary. He lives off the profits of his books. Every big church I have ever attended from Texas to California sold books in the gift shop. If the pastor or his wife write books they are sold in the church gift shop. They are also sold in the Sunday School classroom if the SS teacher wrote them. No big deal. NO ONE FORCES YOU TO BUY THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even pastors must eat, thus must make money from preaching.
An error on Tuesday (if we can even establish that) means no gospel on Thursday?
You are hell bent on blaming and I mean that literally. You are no better and I mean that sincerely.
Not according to some - preachers must wear rags, eat leftovers and live in cardboard boxes. Then and only then - are they considered to be “true” Christians.
I doubt that there is any merit to these allegations. The church’s lawyers and managers keep things quite legal and ethical.
I am not a fan of Joel Osteen’s, I attend the other extremely large and more conservative church in Houston but this allegation seems entirely fallacious.
You can’t see it, but this is my shocked face!
Both the ostentatious prosperity gospel and ostentatious poverty gospel camps are missing the point here. Paul thanked the Lord that through both plenty and want he could continue to do all things through God who gives him strength.
