New York Slijmes ^ | DEC. 27, 2014 | ROBERT PEAR

WASHINGTON — Just as millions of people are gaining insurance through Medicaid, the program is poised to make deep cuts in payments to many doctors, prompting some physicians and consumer advocates to warn that the reductions could make it more difficult for Medicaid patients to obtain care.

How long until doctors are required to have some percentage of Medicaid patients?

“Doctors can’t be expected to work for free.”

Unfortunately, that’s not what Commies think about the subject. What is happening in places where there is sufficient income to support it, is concierge medicine.
I had a recent visit with a relative who works in finance in San Francisco. They now have a concierge clinic housed in the building where he works that for $150 a year, will see you for routine medical needs and refer you to others who are part of the concierge network for specific care (with a much reduced fee schedule). When doctors unburden themselves of the Federal and State governments, the costs of providing quality medical care fall like rocks. Unfortunately the poor will be the ones to suffer as they are forced to use Medicaid and Medicare Advantage where the government can and will strangle the providers to try and stretch their bucks (and to also make sure the aged start dying off sooner because they cost too much). Just think, Ezekiel Emanuel the “godfather of Obamacare” thinks 75 is the optimum age to “move on.” But when you look at the Congress, you can see that they don’t like the idea based on the number of them who are now well over that magic age.

Medicare is also cutting reimbursement 1-2% per year. It’s a frog in a slowly cooking kettle. Eventually Docs will figure out they are essentially only working for health insurance and to pay off student loans.

Glad I am 61 and getting ready to retire, debt free, not paying loans along with all the other expenses.

How long before so many doctors retire that they collapse the system? I think at the end of the day, the doctors hold a better hand. The other thing that needs to happen is for the patient to get back in the payment loop. This whole thing went south when insurance companies started paying doctors directly. People today have no real idea what their medical care is costing. The other thing is that routine medical care should not be covered by insurance. Auto insurance today doesn’t cover parking lot dings; same idea!

Slavery as it were, you take what demand you take and we demand you work for short order cook wages, how Soviet like.
When it gets to that point my BIL will tell them to go to hell and retire.

"My brother in law is a Dr. And has several quick care clinics. Cash only $50 per visit, no insurance , medicaid or medicare accepted. Had an obamacare queen demand he take her state card. He told her unless it came with $50 cash she needed to hit the road as he didn’t have to take the card or deal with her bitching. She left pissing and moaning every step."

At least she heft and, apparently, didn't come back. In Obama's America, the race baters could have brought her back with a bunch of her homies and burned him out.

It sounds like motto of the workers of the old Soviet Union is applicable here: "They pretend to pay us, and We pretend to work!"

Doctor gets only 24 dollars? What would be his operating costs for that visit?

It is antiquated because patients are now required to fit the cookie cutter model of obamacare. Patients with complications and multiple conditions aren’t supposed to exist because they are considered statistical outliers.

ummm depends on the dr but anywhere from 50 to 150 would be a office visit charge.

I agree, My family physician retired this year because of the additional expense and lower payments due to the ACA. He was in his late 50’s too.

Doctors can’t be expected to work for free.

All part pf the plan, comrade.

Recall, one of the basic points of communism is that one is paid based on their worth to society. E.G. a train engineer may be paid the same as a doctor.

And neither will be paid as good as politicians who are the de facto ruling class.

Massachusetts has required “all or none” since 1986. That is, if you accept Medicare or Medicaid from ONE patient, you must acceptAA
it from all.

Condition of license.

Of course, if your town has 3% Medicaid, you’re good to go. If it has 30%, you’re out of business. SO, doctors are vanishing from poor areas, entirely predictably.

This is going to be mandatory in all 50 states within two years, and I agree with the above poster who says it will be a Republican proposal.

The entire system of Medicare, Medicaid, and especially EMTALA is incoherent without forced participation.

No problem. Just bring in some more doctors from Nigeria and put them on the government payroll for a few years then bring in some more.

Best line:

"But the increase expires on Thursday — just weeks after the Obama administration told the Supreme Court that doctors and other providers had no legal right to challenge the adequacy of payments they received from Medicaid."

How long before they have no legal right to refuse Medicaid patients?

He told her unless it came with $50 cash

It would be illegal for him to accept that.

Well this could force a lot of doctors offshore.
You’ll get your exam via Skype, and fly in for actual physicals or surgery.
I suspect billions will be made implementing this idea.

yep, that is why there are quite a few manage care plans and the dr can get a higher rate say any where between 120 - 150 % above the medi-cal rate
