MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The FBI sent a warning to local authorities about a possible plot to blow up a Memphis bridge.

The FBI told WREG it received an anonymous tip, and stressed that there is “no actionable intelligence” that something will happen.

All local law enforcement agencies have been alerted.

Hard to believe there’s a bridge that takes you to Memphis (I-40), but roads also go to Ferguson

Times square might make the news

For years I have thought about two easy targets that would hit every American in the gut. These are two easy targets not requiring much money and very few participants.

One of them is date oriented and every year I am apprehensive about it happening.
And I am not talking about the Superbowl or other obvious targets. I will not mention them lest I give someone who wishes us harm an idea.

We are so vulnerable. -Tom

Maybe Marie saw something after all she lives just a mile away high on a bluff overlooking the bridge.

Do they even know chemistry past a molotov cocktail and burning themselves trying to use it?

Won't happen. The terrorists would have to park on the East side of the bridge and any place walking distance of the bridge on the East side is dangerous. The locals would have the parked vans or cars stripped and robbed before they get a block toward the bridge. The terrorists would have to carry AK 47s to fend off the criminals that infest the area. If they were to drive onto the bridge with a truck bomb it would be a different story.

There are three bridges across the Mississippi at Memphis, one is a RR bridge, the bridge mentioned in the article is the older Memphis Arkansas Bridge, I55, the newest bridge is the Hernando DeSoto Bridge, I40.

Apparently the Old River Control Structure has also slipped through the cracks. Almost failed by flood impact in 1973, and wood have diverted the Mississippi permanently down the Atchafalaya Basin.
