December 19, 2014 How The Sony Hack Was Traced Back To North Korea

The FBI statement was definitive: "The North Korean government is responsible" for the cyberattack on Sony.

The attack was routed through servers in countries all over the world in an effort to hide its origin, but President Obama said North Korea is the sole culprit.

"We've got no indication that North Korea was acting in conjunction with another country," Mr. Obama said Friday.

The FBI cited some of its evidence tying the hack to North Korea:

Internet addresses used by the North Korean government communicated with addresses embedded in the malware used against Sony.

The Sony malware used lines of code similar to other malware "the FBI knows North Korean actors previously developed." The Sony attack resembled the March 2013 attack against South Korean banks which "was carried out by North Korea."

Law enforcement sources said North Korea hacked into the Sony network by stealing the login credentials of one of the company's computer system administrators. Once logged in, the hackers wiped out hard drives, stole personal data and revealed embarrassing e-mails.

Not a fan of North Korea by any stretch, but I don’t trust a damn thing coming from this government.

You’re right. How does one put together such a devious bunch of a-holes? Just try planting a seed called “Obama.”

Cut North Korea off the Internet. Block all their traffic. Just pull the plug.

Even if this is true, you have to have a Sysadmin who recorded his PW outside the firewall.

I still think there was deliberate inside cooperation.

Easier to believe the Norms were framed then that they did such a stupidly sloppy job.

I've not seen this question...

Why would NK target Sony?

I would not be surprised if Comrade Obamatollah "helped" NK to identify Sony as a target.

How The Sony Hack Was Traced Back To North Korea

The same way clinton and obama did with the youtube video
I think this is all a lie. North Korea cannot provide the basics for itself.

My question is, what difference does it make since our government wouldn’t do anything anyway, not about this; not about anything.

North Korea cannot provide the basics for itself.

They don't allow the proles to have the basics.

But there are elite segments that seem to be doing ok.

These guys have their own nukes and rockets, albeit with technical assistance from other regimes.

I don't see why they could perform hacking similarly with aid from folks like the ChiComs.

I believe the Sony hack was done by the North Koreans about as much as I believe the Benghazi attack was due to a YouTube video.

I don’t believe NK has the computer intelligence to pull off this hack......they don’t have a culture of kids growing up with computers like other nations -

So I too believe China has to really be behind this....who is to say they didn’t go through NK’s servers to eventually get to Sony? And they have the level of computer genius to pull this off.

I believe a full collapse of our energy grid is inevitable, by China, and will cripple us as much as nuking us, but leaving them control and not everything destroyed.

Only their economy’s dependence on us is probably keeping them from doing this.
