Authorities were searching for a gunman after a TV meteorologist was shot multiple times during an altercation Wednesday in a Central Texas TV station's parking lot.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says the shooting occurred around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday outside KCEN-TV's rural studio on Interstate 35 near Bruceville-Eddy, 75 miles north of Austin. No motive has been determined and it is unclear if the shooter has any ties to the station.
The suspect is described as a white, balding man in his 30s. He is said to have been wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans at the time of the shooting...
The station website reports the suspect exchanged words with the victim, on-air meteorologist Patrick Crawford, before pulling out a handgun and shooting several times. Crawford backed his car away from the shooter and drove up to a highway construction crew that called 911. Jim Hice, the station's news director, says Crawford was wounded in the shoulder and the abdomen.
WacoTrib.com reported that Crawford was stable and resting after undergoing surgery. It is believed Crawford was hit at least two times, but authorities recovered at least 12 shells at the scene.
Crawford said he did not know the man who shot him.
Police think the suspect fled into the wooded area behind the station.
Trooper D.L. Wilson said law enforcement was constructing a forensic map of the scene and said it was still not clear if Crawford knew the suspect...

When this story first broke, the irony hit me like a ton of bricks.
You see, I’ve always joked about being a weatherman. You know the cliche: “Go to work and be wrong every day.”
The thing is, a client was in the office the day before this broke and we were talking about the weather and I cracked my usual joke, to which he replied, “Yeah, but you’d think eventually someone might get pissed off about that.”

Caught that too, and the best description I’ve ever seen when looking for a suspect. And it indirectly supports the gay angle - for if he was killed by a skinhead, the media would have a FIELD DAY with it, and beat us over the head with it through the next election. If killed by a jealous gay lover...no big deal.
Either way, it’s all upside to find the killer and bring him in.

No, I am a career law enforcement officer. I have a bachelors degree in criminology, 20+ years in and for the record have never shot a dog or a citizen. I graduated from 2 police academies in the top 10,have multiple commendations for my performance and am proud to have served my community and nation. So, in closing I say good day to you sir and go piss up a rope!
