Slight issue w/ your reference: the Amendment was fraudulently (IMHO) passed, being required by the States during Reconstruction for re-admittance into the Union.
That, to me, is exactly the same thing we have going on today...subversion by strong-arming. Making it ‘legal’ by force/coercion.
