Ted Cruz: ‘Iran will either stop, or we will stop them’

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas ripped the Obama administration’s policies on Israel and Iran at a dinner Sunday evening in New York hosted by a major Jewish group.

“What would real presidential leadership look like?” the Texas Republican said, the Dallas Morning News reported. “A real president … would stand up and say on the world stage: Under no circumstances will Iran be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. Iran will either stop, or we will stop them.”, one of the most outspoken defenders of Israel’s interests, spoke at the annual dinner of the Zionist Organization of America.

The potential 2016 presidential contender condemned last week’s attacks in which two Palestinians killed four rabbis and an Israeli police officer in a synagogue in Israel. Three of the rabbis were American.

"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792

"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." - Samuel Adams

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

I’m not sure being too pro-Israel is the way to go. What the Mideast needs is stability. A totally destabilized Iran would be seriously bad news for everyone but ISIS and Saudi Arabia.

Well, Ted Cruz isn't like the GOP-E POTUS pretenders, like Rand Paul, he actually seems to relish living by his principles and not putting his finger in the wind to figure out what his next policy position should be.

Furthermore, he seems to be a principled man where it concerns backing our friends and backing Democracies like Israel.

I'll take his approach over yours any day.

I believe that over the next two years Obama will do everything he can to insure that Iran gets nukes and nothing will be done about it. Just watch.

And another war in moozlimland, as needed as it may be, is not going to be well received by the voters - or supported by the media. Unless we’re willing to renounce Powell’s “you break it, you fix it” doctrine I can’t get behind shedding more American blood to sort out another rathole. Now, if you want to nuke ‘em, that’s another matter.

And yet Senator Cruz has been real clear about how he would have handled Iraq with a get in and get out real quick approach.

A real president … would stand up and say on the world stage: Under no circumstances will Iran be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. Iran will either stop, or we will stop them.”,

How did that policy of appeasement offered to Hitler's Germany work out? If you guessed World War II you are correctamundo.

It's going to take some real leadership to get us out of this mess and avoid another world war situation after Obama leaves office. Our foreign relations are a mess and the support of our allies is declining. Our enemies have been empowered by this administration and our wishy washy foreign policy. Our State department under the leadership of Hillary Clinton and JFnK is a joke to the rest of the world.

I think neither Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton possess such leadership. Hillary has a proven track record of failure to lead in the Benghazi Incident. Jeb Bush is a RINO and supports much of the current administration policies. And not to forget Mitt Romney, he didn't have the balls to confront Obama or Candy Whatshername on Benghazi during the last presidential election debates.

I think a strong conservative leader like Ted Cruz is our only hope of restoring our leadership in the world. Otherwise, we are screwed!

Has any Ted followers here heard or read him say anything that dampens your enthusiasm?

I have not.

The only thing about Ted that concerns me is one comment he made early on about wanting to legalize illegals in this country already.

He's never said another word about that particular issue as far as I know.

Since then, he has been rock-steady on all conservative policy positions, including everything to do with Immigration and the border.

I'm sure this issue will be flushed out in the debates.

It is my hope that his position on this has changed.

Even with that problem, Cruz is head and shoulders above any other potential POTUS candidate.

My feeling also. He has yet to say or do anything to make me resent my vow: “I will vote Ted Cruz for POTUS in 2016. How ‘bout you?”
