Graffiti on gate of Cairns Mosque. Don’t look if easily offended by a commonly used Aussie cuss-word.
I think it’s fairly clear by now that the perpetrator was a relative or perhaps mother, who attempted to kill herself. Why gun laws and islam feature in the comments beats me.
What are you talking about?
You learn something every day here:
...that said, I doubt very much that islam enters into this recent tragedy.
Ms Thaiday said the woman speaking with police was the children’s mother and that friends and family were now taking care of the brother who discovered the scene.
“I’m going to see him now, he needs comforting,” Ms Thaiday said.
She described the family and extended relatives as close-knit.
“We’re a big family and most of us are from the (Torres) Strait,” she said.
“I just can’t believe it. We just found out (about) those poor babies.”

There is a large 90-year-old population of white Albanian Muslims thirty kilometers west of Cairns in Marbeeba. There is a Muslim boarding school in Mareeba. There is concern about radicalization.
Interesting - I would have expected that to show up in the figures I was looking at.
Until the extension of Australian government into the interior of Papua New Guinea in the Fifties, the Melanesian people there, the same racial group as the Torres Islanders, had a tradition of mothers killing male babies. Males were considered a problem because they caused wars, so the females suffocated male babies. The Austraians had a difficult time stamping out the practice. The murder rate is high in the PNG Highlands.
I bet it's not as high as it is in Chicago...
Self censorship of what I think should happen to a suicidal mother who kills her children.
Unless "stabbing" includes beheading.
May God rest these children's souls.
Members of the Torres Strait Island Light Infantry Battalion on Thursday Island in 1942.
Their task was to fight alongside soldiers from Australia's mainland against a common enemy. What made them unique was that almost all of the enlisted men were Torres Strait Islanders, making them the only Indigenous Australian battalion ever formed by the Australian Army.
There's a lot more to this story. The 20-year-old brother came home. Remember mom is 34. Soooooo perhaps one of the "dads" committed this crime. Here's a link to the Daily Mail article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2880061/Eight-children-dead-Cairns-home.html
My youngest daughter worked as an embalmer and says same thing
Reading between the lines it seems now that the mother is also a victim.
You can't make this stuff up.
no need for the public to be concerned about their safety, he said.
Until all the facts come out, most is speculations.
